This support has a great effect of +3/+3 to your first creature and trample if it's human, but the problem is that after building up the 10 mana to cast it, it comes out with only one shield. When I consider other supports that only have one shield, I think of things with the power level of Suppression Bonds, Claustrophobia, and Hixus, and this is nowhere near that power level, especially when compared to things like Murderer's Axe that can issue a +2/+2 boost without relying on a support.

I feel like this should either have more shields on the support, cost less to cast, or both.

It should cost the same as murderer's axe. At 5 mana it is better than murderer's axe but being a support multiple copies become useless which means it's much worse than murderer's axe.

I agree with you, Wereotter.
But why did you pick especially Equestrian Skill?
I feel like you could probably make a long list of cards that could use a  buff and another (maybe shorter) list of cards that need a nerf.

Because I was trying to make white/green humans for Ajani and realized what a disappointment this card is after playing it once.

I see. I had the same experience quite a while ago. Used it once, because if you don't know the number shields it doesn't look so bad... Threw it out when I learned about the one shield.

That's why it's common.. As an uncommon it would have more shields or would be less expensive.. For example the slayers plate as a rare

I get that a common will normally be a worse card than an uncommon or a rare, but that's why I made the comparison to Murderer's Axe, which is also a common from the same set. It costs half the mana, provides a buff without reliance on a 1 shield support to remain on the field, and is only one less power and toughness for the buff. the trample, while nice, is rarely impactful and only applies if that first creature is human. Furthermore, it can't be stacked, further copies just reinforce the support.

So considering all that, the support should probably have at least 2 shields, if not 3 to make up for the cost of casting it.

it's an awful card that gets destroyed by nissa's
pilgrimage more often than not. I would use the
colourless brawlers plate instead if berserker is
not an issue.
