Mark Rosewater wrote a very good article about why Elite packs such as this should exist:

Isn't this the week that we all just hold on to our unobtanium until the next pack hits?

I have 2 of the mythics in this rotation- I don't care for the equipment cards (even if by some miracle I could get all three pieces I couldnt possibly justify 3 deck slots to use them to the fullest).
    Pass please

Every week since the introduction of elite packs has been a week that I just hold on to my (precious?) unobtainium until I see something that I might actually want in an elite pack.
Why can't we just have mythics from previous sets in there?

This next week will be where I hit my first opportunity to buy, but I'm definitely not up for a chance at Lightning Grieves.  To their credit, at least they put the whole set of mediocrity in the same week...

And I suppose it's two weeks of waiting, then we'll (presumably) be looking at sets with cards from Amonkhet?  It will be interesting to see how PQ translates Counter Spell or Force of Will...

I'm probably not going to roll the dice on this one because while I only have Metallurgic Summoning out of all the cards I don't actually want any of these masterpieces. Mediocre cards that are only good if you have 2 other cards on the field at the same time is awful.

I wonder if anyone will whale out and get a ton of these and get the whole set of 3... Or, more likely, get disappointed with a bunch of dupes.

    LOL.

@sjechua:  I appreciate the "not planning to purchase" option you've added to the poll. It's a great way to assess the feelings of those like myself who are sitting on jewels.

@madwren: Thanks, but credit where it is due. Not my idea, was @voodoo_gremlin. Thank you VG
If there were a choice in the poll for "not planning to purchase", I would choose that. You may also want to add "Would purchase if I had the gems".

The only thing about the 'not planning to purchase' option is that the %s for each card no longer add up to 100%.

Since I've got to write something.. I'll do the math for you:
    Torrential Gearhulk: 100%
    You're welcome!

And hence the poll has lost its meaning.

I've actually been interested in the results of every one. While it's still possible to calculate the results myself, most people will think the number next to the card is actually the odds of getting it, which is now misinformation.

Yes, the percentages no longer match the proportion of players pulling each card.  But as long as it's still possible to extract the number of votes for each card, no information is lost.  (And it is, regardless of card percentages being quantised to tiny percentages, but only by looking at the page source code.)

Will most people? That's a rather large assumption to make about most people. Why not run a poll and find out if it's true?

I enjoy that the new forum has made polls worse in general, progress! Before, it would show me how many people voted for an option in addition to what % that was. Now I have to math and I don't want to have to...but I did.
    Total votes: 53
    Noxious Gearhulk: 3% (3% of 53 = 1.59)
    Torrential Gearhulk: 1% (1% of 53 = .53)
    Not planning...: 88% (88% of 53 = 46.64)
    Would if...: 5% (5% of 53 = 2.65)
Round them all up and we get our total votes. 3 voters actually opened the packs, 67% received Noxious Gearhulk and 33% received Torrential Gearhulk. Hats off to you brave souls for purchasing such a horrendous pack. Hey, there's a card idea. Horrendous Gearhulk. It could be a colorless 6/6 construct creature with can't attack and can't block that costs 25 mana.  Seems about as playable as some of the others.

Horrendous Gearhulk should be a masterpiece. For "collections" yknow.

Already have MS (first kld mythic) and AoI is tempting but the rest of the set is garbage.

    Pass.
