For overall 5* play, i would think:

5bw/strange

Im46 (would be higher if he had more 5* partners)

This list will change for mixed 4*/5* play.  Im46 has much better 4* teammates.  Strange also seems a bit weaker in pvp 5* play, but is incredibly strong against goons.  And of course OML (even nerfed) moves up the list in terms of sustained grinding. I was more thinking about strength in a single match.  OML was already only mid tier in that respect and is noticeably worse post nerf.

Not sure about hawkeye yet.  He may end up being quite high, especially for pvp if he is fast enough and/or scary on defense.

(Note: i am a 4* player.  This opinion is based on experiments with low level 5*s, general MPQ experience, and conversations with 5* alliance mates.  Take it fwiw.)

Hawkeye is pretty ridiculous, especially when he's paired with a good cd-producing 3* like IM40 or Loki.  In the Loki PvP, pair up Hawkeye with Coulson, give the AI a match-4, and you basically win.

Out of the rest of the list, I only have OML champed, but I still think he's better than the rest of that list besides Hawkeye.

Gosh, I'm loving Hawkeye right now.  His countdown tiles is just puts out so much consistent damage.

The team I'm running now is OML/Hawkeye/Coulson.  I boost red and get a red match early.  Drop his Deep Breath, which creates Strike Tiles because of OML's passive, AND a countdown tile because of Coulson.  Then get back onto an AP frenzy when those countdown tiles go off, giving me 4 blue, 4 red, and 2 in two random colors when both countdown tiles go off.  This gives Hawkeye's abilities a net cost of 1 AP once you get it started.

From there, I just match Team AP and Red AP (OML tanks red, which keeps me running for a long time), and just drop more arrows as I get them.

Everyone knows that Thanos is awesome.  The point of the poll was to see who is best of the lesser known 5*s (and nerfed Logan).

The top 3 after Thanos would be Hawkeye, Black Bolt, and black Widow.  Dr strange is really good in PVE but really struggles in PVP for a 5*. I would also put Black Panther as an extremely strong 5*.  

Black Bolt does some massive damage with Green and Black powers and can accelerate AP.
Black Widow hits like a mac truck.  In the C&D PVP she was scary to face because of all the black on the board.  Is is expensive and slow but when she hits it hurts.
Hawkeye is just a beast I wiped out so fast the first time a faced a championed Hawkeye and I didn't even know what hit me.

Hawkeye does seem to be a potent defensive force.  He can't really kill you in a knockout blow, but he is extremely hard to deny at just 5 ap.  And he constantly fortifies his own tiles, making it hard to deal with his CDs.  And as icing on the cake, he fuels himself even more off of each CD.  At least he doesnt have much defense to speak of.  All in all i am still trying to figure out the best way to fight a high level HE.  So he is moving up the list for me.

Less sure of 5bw as a top 3 5*.  She definitely hits hard and and slowness is traditionally less of a problem in 5* land where there arent great batteries.  But her conditional damage is pretty hard to proc, and hawkeye may have changed the speed of 5* play with his cheap powers and self-accel.  On the other hand, 5bw is likely one of the best counters to hawkeye because she us a great way to deal with his CDs in 5* land (and of course thanos' purple will totally shut down hawkeye).

I did not want to put the over powerd 5* like thanos and black bolt because it was the easy choice i wanted to see the lesser 5* roster.

I think Hawkeye is one of the most annoying characters to play against BUT, and this is a big BUT, I think it is very hard for him to kill somebody (as long as you don't leave him for last). Other chars like PH or Bolt are more dangerous in defense because with a bad cascade they can ruin your match, and you can loose. Hawkeye will always hurt you, he will always fire some arrows and do some damage, but he will probably not kill any of your chars (AI won't save for his red, he still produces countdowns, so they can be matched or you can kill him before they resolve). At least this is how matches against him have played for me. But you should kill him first (maybe second depending on the team, but definitely don't leave for last).

I still don't have first hand experience with a champed Hawkeye as a player, but he looks promising, he looks really good and fast (and the combo Hawkeye, Carol, Coulson works amazingly well even with a low level Hawkeye), so for now, I have voted for Strange. He is the king of PvE, he is also great in sim as part of a 3 member team, and in PvP, once you have him at 470+ level he is not that squishy so, once you level him a bit he might be viable in PvP against low level 5s (450-460 teams).

Captain America is much better now, like much much much better now, and Iron Man is amazing but just on team IM teams, if the 3 is team IM, and Red Hulk is buffed (440+), this is a very scary team to fight against.
