Greaves / Helm / Gauntlet need a redesign

I just ran some numbers on this, and it looks like if you get 30 KLD masterpieces you will have a roughly 25% chance of getting all three of these. If you get one of them from an Elite pack you still need 23 KLD masterpieces on top of that to have a roughly 25% chance of getting the other two. If you get two different ones from Elite packs and get 8 KLD masterpieces on top of that you have around s 25% chance of getting all three. Feel free to check my math on that though.

The point is, it looks unlikely that anyone will ever get all of them, maybe one or two players do after a couple years. And if anyone does, well... frankly they will have enough better cards at that point that those are probably totally irrelevant. Basically, I don't think anyone will ever play with all three of them.

As of right now, these cards are totally outclassed by existing rares, and pretty disappointing to be opening.

Is this math assuming all cards in the pool have equal weight? It seems quite possible that this isn't the case, although I don't know how to prove it. Obviously the people who pull a Basker are going to be more likely to complain about it :)

    To make an added observation:

Amonkhet will have its invocations where Kaladesh has its masterpieces, meaning you're likely to see an entirely different pool of cards in elite packs, and it's possible that eventually you'll only be able to pull a masterpiece at an incredibly low chance from Kaladesh booster packs available only 1-2 weeks a month.

Considering that, what's the real chance anyone will have all three at any time? I'd say much lower than the chances you give it as it will likely only get harder to do as time goes on.

I'd say only the greaves are not that useful. The other two have some good synergy with power and toughness matters stuff like Undergrowth Champion, Eldrazi Scions, double-strike and such. And they don't cost a ton of mana for the effects either. But yeah though the idea that anyone would get all three of these was not really well thought out, apparently.

The masterpieces are in the game to ensure that there is always something for people to blow their money on chasing.

It's not actually expected that anyone will complete the set in any reasonable amount of time.  By the time they do, they will have every other card in game so it won't make a difference.

Just another one of those things where by the time you actually get it, you no longer need it.
