4* Leveling and Scaling

Hi everybody. I thought I had this figured out the last time I asked, but apparently I got some bad information.

I am just getting to level some 4*s and previously screwed up early scaling by leveling some 5* characters before understanding scaling. I'm now trying to understand how high I can level my 4*s without affecting scaling.

I was previously told I could freely level my 4*s since I already had so many high level 5*s. Well that apparently wasn't true because I leveled my Wasp to 250 and recently Agent Venom to 213. My scaling jumped from level 287 to 300 on the last node of PvE.

So now I'm back in cautious mode trying to figure out what I can level other 4*s too without that number creeping higher again.
Help please.

First off, I don't think anyone has scaling figured out completely so all I can give you is my own experiences and such.

Secondly it is said that scaling is based off of the 3 strongest characters on your roster, but I don't think it is entirely clear how 5*s with only a few covers impact your scaling when you start levelling them. But as you tell in your post it seems that levelling a 12 cover 4* but keeping it below your 5*s is also enough to raise your difficulty levels, so that seems to imply that 5*s with a few covers do indeed factor in differently than high level 4*s, which was announced with the scaling changes some months back. This was the first time I've seen an actual example of this, but that's not very helpful to you I think.

As for myself, I have 24 4*s championed at the moment, and all my 5*s are at 255. My 3 highest lvl 4*s are currently at 280/280/278 with my most difficult nodes in PVE maxing out at 322. Interestingly enough, I only recently levelled my Wasp to 278, and before this Invisible Woman was my third highest at 277 (now 4th) with my nodes maxing out at 321(well, actually 321/321/322 for individual opponents). So even this minor change had an equally small impact in scaling.

Other than this small change I have not seen my max levels in PVE change since I first championed a few 4*s. When I only had 3* championed I think my max PVE levels were around 296 I believe, but I could't say for sure.

I would advise you to not level your 5*s any further, and maybe wait with levelling your 4*s above 200 until you get more of them to about the same level. I see you have 2 3*a at 200, so I think that could be pretty safe, or at least don't level your 4*s above your top 3*s as they slowly get higher over time. Then when you get to cover max a few 4*s (around 4-8 at least) I would start to look at slowly levelling one or two at first to see what your scaling does, or maybe even champing a few of them. Getting covers for 4*s can take quite a while I have found, but I think that playing it cautious can pay off pretty well in this game. Don't be afraid to save up Iso (up to 2 million is safe), and try to keep an even distribution when levelling your characters. I have done so myself and have never regretted it up to this point.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Interesting discussion - I have 12-cover Peggy and Star-Lord, which I could level up to around 250 (dont have any 4* champs yet) but I have been keeping them around 190, which is where my highest 3* champs are at.

I was curious if the 1 & 2 cover 5*s at level 255 would mean I could level up Peggy and SL higher, but from Killians experience with Wasp and Agent Venom it sounds like this would impact on my scaling

IMHO, people get too hung up about scaling. As long as you don't level a 5 up too much, or champ a 4 when you have no 3 star champs then you'll be fine.

I did have all 3 stars champed before I moved onto 4's but I started with one champ, Hulkbuster, and I now champ who I can when I can. Currently have 4 champed 4's and 2 more incoming soon.

Has pve scaling got a bit harder, yes but I can still 7/6 nodes if I want to.

I'd just go for it whenever you can and start enjoying the 4 star meta

This is great info. Thanks folks. Since this post I have leveled more 4s since it's easier to gain covers due to the current vaulting situation. I moved Spider Woman up to 229 and others up higher.

I will have 3 Wasp covers on the vine after this weeks 7-day event and I'm going to go ahead and move her up to 270 and champ her so those don't go to waste. With my current roster scaling moved from level 303 to 305. I had no problem taking down that node for six clears. Wasp is boosted this event though which makes her a monster.

We'll see if I get hosed when champing Wasp next week. My 4* roster is horrible for active green powers that are useable and the current 12 aren't green heavy or you wouldn't want to invest in them (Riri). It'll take forever to the vaulted folks with green up to speed, so my green threes will do heavy work with the fours moving up.
