Is there any incentive in chasing powerful cards anymore?

I'm finding it harder and harder to justify buying mythic bundles or chasing after masterpieces. I feel they have no place in events due to how strong they are. having them out would end the game too soon before meeting secondary objectives. there isn't really an event where I can play (without paying) whatever I want and get rewarded now that QB prizes are getting ****. what would be the incentive of building a powerful deck now...when all the good loot is in these cast 6 of and lose less than 1or2  *insert card type* events.

whats the point of having strong mythic/masterpieces if I can't take advantage of them? why not have an event with no restrictions for players who just want to go ham with their most powerful decks now and then?

At the very least have some variations with your event/objectives.

here's an idea associate mastery with events in some way that any tier bracket can enter (if unlocked).  but to join a lower mastery bracket you most make a deck to fit the requirements in order to enter. say a platinum player well need to have nothing but common/uncommon in a deck in order to participate in bronze bracket.

A rough example for an objective:
Bronze: commons and up to 6 uncommon in a deck no rare/mythic can be played in this bracket.
Silver: commons, uncommon and up to 3 rare no mythic
    Gold: up to 2 mythic
    Platinum: no restrictions. go ham.

The rewards can be equal from bronze-plat. the upside to that is by unlocking higher mastery you can potentially earn all 4 tier of rewards. giving more incentive to those players to rise in mastery that likes to slum in lower tiers. And a place for platinum players to go ham and still feel fulfilled by rewards.

While I dislike the idea in principle of paying for power, the point is well made: Many powerful cards are penalised by restrictive objectives, and the reduced and flattened reward structure means that scoring highly in an event barely gives you better rewards than someone placing 50 places below you.

You can go all out in TotP. There is the matter of entry fee but you dont have to hold back during those battles.

apart from the black one, all other nodes in nop can
benefit from cards that make it easier to win quickly.
it's only the cast x or more creatures events that is
against including more powerful creatures. these
events are annoying as they encourage you to drag
out the game to achieve the objectives.

There is a place where you can take full advantage of your best cards. You just have to pay 60 crystals a day for it.

I'm not against having objectives being challenging. my frustration is having cards that are powerful and a limited place I can enjoy them. QB ladder was my go to! and it going away next patch. which leaves TotP with an entry fee that sparked enough negative comments that I rather not get into.

look, I just want a place where we all can play whatever we want and earn stuff. like a small tournament being held at your local magic shop. but to each it own.

The old QB is were I go to test speed and power and be creative. Rewards were not important. Now that will be gone in next patch.
For events, you don't even need mythics/masterpice to rank anywhere in top 20. With QB gone next patch, there is really not point in chasing powerful cards.
The competitive aspect of QB was good, only the prizes need to be romoved

Is there really any reason to be competitive or good in the game anymore? Probably in 5 years when you finally get a masterpiece from the elite packs. Because that's what they want your progression to be like.

How about when you max out your color mastery, a CONGRATULATIONS! GAME OVER! message appears on the screen, and then the app deletes itself from your phone.

That'll get those pesky legacy players off the servers so they can concentrate on getting in new blood.

You realize training grounds is exactly what you want? QB without rewards.

but there is no benchmark since you're not competing against other players as far as I know

It's a non competitive pvp format as far as I can tell.

It's basically QB without rankings and rewards. Isn't that exactly what you said you want?

Just as a reminder the reason they brought in objectives for the NoP event was to break ties.  There was what, a 50-way tie for first place with perfect score?

They can't really win either way.  Remove objectives?  50-way tie.  Introduce objectives?  Too many restrictions.

There is a bright future though.  With the introduction to "event decks", this opens the door to a different type of event restriction.

I feel like we are still in the "era" of building out the underlying architecture of the game.  Once the architecture is in place they can start focusing on more content like creating new events with different restrictions or bringing back "classic" events.

@ohboy he wanted to keep the rankings but ditch the rewards. to keep the competitive aspect of QB alive, only, no one would bother without rewards.

No good competition possible without good rewards.

They could improve the AI, add an ELO style rating system to matchmaking, increase the length of the event, or reduce the size of the brackets.

They certainly can't win if the only solutions to problems that they can think of are bad ones.

Don't forget that they could also open up a higher tier, or rotate objectives instead of keeping the same ones for months on end.

    that would be amazing.
or something as simple as matching you base on current score during events. making it so you only face decks that are above you in score; so it feels like a climb. I'll take that over deck slots any day.
