use roster characters to upgrade champion?

Long time user, just got first 4 star championed after 800+ days! Question about that is I have a level 270 4* sam wilson and a level 70 4* sam wilson on my roster. can I not use the lvl 70 to upgrade m lvl 270 another lvl? This is why I kept 2 versions in my roster. Or should I just drop the lvl 70 to make room on my roster?

IIRC, you can not use it to gain a champ level.

I'd sell it.

After you bring Sam Wilson up to level 270, you pay and addition 12.5k ISO to champ him. Then, any additional Sam Wilson covers you get will say "Add Level" on them and you use them to add levels to your champion. Unfortunately you can't use the level 70 character to add levels to your champion, so he should be sold to free up a roster slot.

When champing was introduced I believe customer service helped combine some peoples dupes (but I wouldn't quote me on this), I believe they stopped doing this however so you're best off just selling the extra.

They've stopped. They did that briefly when champions were first introduced, but it's been a long time since they've done that for anyone since.

Quibbles

On the other hand, if you're dealing with a current 4*, it might be smart to roster the dupe, since you just might find yourself in position to farm before the character leaves the rotation. Not guaranteed, but possible.
