Jon, you forgot to put Baral in your deck, He's quite good in mono blue.

He thought about it, but decided that Clash of Wills was a shrewder pick against the current meta.

Bizarre and inexplicable though it may be, it seems he is not swapping pro tours and grand prix events for full-time QB grinding and crystal farming. Each to their own!

It's a promotion to get new PQ players from the magic community. Probably work pretty well to.

I think it's a great idea to promote the game. Let's face it, paper Pro Tour winners are more well knowned in the Magic community than Breaking Points winners (for the moment)

Jon if your are looking for a coalition we have a spot !

I have mixed feelings about this...

On the one hand, it might be nice to bring in some new blood and maybe not face the same two-dozen players.

On the other hand, that means an influx of new, naive, and completely uninformed people who are used to spending whatever they want just to get the cards they want. This could completely undermine the Not.Another.Dime. movement if they bring their spending habits with them.

Don't bet on it. If these people do show up, theyd be paper MTG players, not casual gamers. They wouldn't put up with this kind of ****. I've been playing paper since The Dark and the number of other paper MTG players I know IRL who play MTGPQ is precisely zero.

Same (except you've got me beat on entrance block. I was Ice Age). I know zero because I refuse to suggest a game with a horrendous new-player experience to my friends.

"Hey mate, i know we both like Magic, why don't you try this? You'll be horribly overmatched, and everything in the shop is CRAZY expensive. And you won't be able to get cards that you want because of terrible drop rates. You'll probably wind up with the same two rares for your first 30 packs, actually. But you should do it!"

I did that unfortunately. Needless to say my buddies don't play this game anymore.

I will not be suggesting MtGPQ to anyone else.

I had this same experience a few days ago. I told someone that I was just getting back into MTGO and mentioned I was playing MTGPQ before this. They said they would check it out. I responded with "I don't recommend it because they have become $ hungry instead of caring for the game."

Of course, if they started running this game like a TCG instead of a cashgrab mobile game, there'd be no end to the number of paper MTG players they could recruit.

I'm wondering if he didn't have access to all the cards when he created this. There are certainly some other cards and PWs that use blue that would be a better choice.

That is why I asked if he just started playing the game. This is a deck that you might craft if you have only opened a few premium packs with less than stellar pulls. And then, Jace1?

I kind of like the reality of his deck as it reflects the new user experience. Maybe an MTG player could comment on whether the real world deck he has is significantly more effective than it is in MTGPQ?

TBH, I'm just glad they didn't give him every card and every PW fully leveled!

I guarantee that Jon did not put together a deck to recommend and came up with that. Most likely he's just signed his name to it.

what i don't get is if Jon has actually joined the D3 team? is he writing articles? the material doesn't state what he's going to be doing.

It really says a lot about the state of this game that whenever anyone asks me about what I'm playing, and they say they'll give it a go, I spend considerable effort dissuading them from doing so. No one should have to put up with what we have to put up with.
