The awkward transition to 4*

As it stands, I have 24 3* champed, with a further 5 max covered. I could spend my ISO there- to champ those (and to get my 12 covered chars. ready)

In contrast is the 4*. I currently only have Invisible Woman champed, 11 covers on Peggy and Wasp, 10 on Luke, 9 on Gwenpool and Wolvie, 8 on Mordo- down from there. (With almost none of them at max level.) I could be spending my ISO on them, making them far higher levels than any 3*, especially as I start fully covering them too.

I find myself of dual minds and am looking for advice.

P.S. I played this game at launch for a long while, and recently got back in- hence my odd 4* distribution.

For reference, I'm around the same stage as you, but with a few more 3*s champed. What's your scaling like at the moment? It looks like it may be borked already because of the single 4* champ and the 5*s that have been levelled up. Do you primarily play PvE or PvP?

You have a couple of really good 3*s still not champed (Strange, Cyclops and Kamala in particular), who would definitely be worth doing. I'm the sort of person who wants to champ everyone, but I am aware that not everyone feels the same.

If Peggy weren't about to leave the tokens, I'd probably recommend not pulling any until you get some more threes champed. As it stands, I'd say save as much Iso as you can and don't spend any until you have enough saved that you could champ Peggy if you get the right covers. Once you get that safety net, spend the excess however suits you that day/week. Maybe look at the upcoming boosted lists and PvE essentials and go from there.

Right now, Venom and Carnage sit at 295. It's tough, but tolerable. I primarily play PvE, but throw in a little PvP for my alliance.

Probably my biggest weakness is impatience with tokens. I spend them and my CP whenever I can. I was leaning towards 3* for usefulness sake- if they're all champed, then excess covers aren't wasted- 4* are still kinda spread- only 3 current characters have a 5 color cover.

    This is my advice:

    1. Don't put any more iso into your 5-stars. I don't think they're hurting your scaling too much right now with none of them at more than 1 cover, but they're not helping you either so it's a waste of iso that's better spent elsewhere at the moment.

    2. Invisible Woman is hurting your scaling, and anytime she's boosted she's going to hurt you more. She needs some 4-star friends that're top tier to make it easier for you. Peggy is the #1 priority here.

    3. Champ all your 3-stars. You may want to do this first before your scaling moves any higher. Boosted 3-stars will be your bread and butter while you build those 4-stars, and many of them can help you well into 4-star land when they're boosted. At the very least prioritize Dr. Strange, Iron Fist, Cyclops, Kamala, and Thanos - in that order. But champing them all for champ rewards is well worth it. If you're a PvE player, Dr. Strange is the single most important 3-star to have, Iron Fist and Kamala are excellent batteries, Cyclops can do damage in bulk, and Thanos will make things like DDQ and easy PvE nodes a breeze.

I mostly agree with everyone above with a couple of exceptions.

I would actually champ your three star Strange, Blade and Thanos as soon as I had the ISO for them. As Dormammu said, champing Iron Fist, Cyclops and KK should be a priority as well when you have the covers.

I personally use Blade and Strange together all of the time and rip through nodes like there's no tomorrow.

One other thing to consider, if you're not farming your 2 star characters, I'd do that as well. There's a lot of extras to be gained from repeating the champ levels ad nauseum.

The optimal long term strategy at your stage in the game is to hold off using legendary tokens/CP and level up and champion all of your 3* characters. 3* covers are relatively plentiful, and the constant flow of their champion rewards is really useful since it includes ISO, HP, CP, and tokens/covers. Additionally, championing any 3* is helpful for PVP (including lightning rounds), as well as their PVE essential nodes and Dat Required Character/Behemoth Burrito in DDQ.
Once you have all the 3* champed, your resource flow will increase, which will help greatly as you transition to multiple 4* champs. I did not champ my first 4* until I had all my 3* champed, and I haven't regretted it.

That said, the point of this game is to have fun. If you want to keep opening tokens and putting ISO towards 4* that you find more fun to play instead of meticulously optimizing your resources, that is a perfectly fine thing to do. It might not be the "best" strategy, but for some players the slow and steady approach can get too boring.
