Crazy Ornithopter Idea

Was thinking about Ornithopter last night and how uninteresting a mythic it is. I want it to be somewhat playable and similar to the paper version, but still feel worthy of a masterpiece level rarity

“3 mana
Flying, defender
Ornithopter does not count towards the number of cards in your deck.
0/4”

This way you can have 11 cards in a deck as long as Ornithopter is included. Doesn’t take up a valuable card slot, and you get a decent little creature. Probably not feasible, but I love the idea that it breaks the rules a little bit.

The core idea of making it zero damage and giving it defender is basically what I had in my thread on it. Honestly, though, I think having fewer cards in a deck is more useful than having more. It provides greater predictability. This is why folks play cards like artificers epiphany, it functions as a way of making your deck shorter and getting to cards you want.

So more useful would be 2 mana, 0/4 flying defender with draw a card on enter the battlefield. That's great.

That sounds like a pretty solid design, actually....

That reminds me of my paper magic time where we had walls!
Cheap defenders with no offensive power.

The "walls" that they released so far are way to expensive in mana. And the "wall" they released in Kaladesh is not a wall but just a 1/3 creature with reach... Oh, and also too expensive... icon_rolleyes.gif
