As a reminder, its a spell card card for 5 mana with the effect "X gems are converted to green gems, where X is the amount of cards in your hand multiplied by 4.".

It's been pretty obviously flagged by folks previously as being crazy broken, especially when combined with seasons past, animist awakening, nissa's renewal, etc. It feeds into continuous (but not infinite) looping which has been shown by Baral players to be really annoying.

Now we're seeing the backlash against Baral, maybe this is a great chance for the devs to be proactive in making a change based on strong community suggestions(hint hint). This card hasn't been released yet and I would strongly suggest the Dev's look at it before it goes up for competition (thank goodness its not for sale).

For the community, how should the card be reworked to be good but not broken? My first suggestion would be it would be # of cards multiplied by 2, not 4. Even 2 gives up to 12 green gems for 5 mana which is excellent. Animists only gives 10 and that's spread over two turns.

    This, all day long.

In addition to a chance to pre-correct a broken card, it would show that there is an olive branch in respect of taking on player feedback. Some of us still hold out hope that someone is listening and understands (lol @ me).

2 gems per card is fair. It's more than generous for 5 mana. They can raise the mana cost to 7, making it so that most pw's can't trigger it on one match.

Going down to 2 gems would still leave it as very powerful, but yeah, not quite as immediately broken.

Another adjustment might be to make it work like the other expertise spells and have a higher cost but come with mana returned to other cards (e.g., cost 12 but next cast next spell in your hand that costs less than 8 for free). That would still need to be combined with a reduction in gems per card.

I think this is too powerful as well but adjusting it is tricky. Being dependent on hand size makes it crazy with a full hand but less so with fewer cards. I don't want to see it be worthless with only two other cards in hand. Maybe diminishing rewards for other cards in hand 5 gems for the first 4 for the second etc.

Hey Everyone. I just wanted to let you all know that I just put in a request to have Rishkar's Expertise evaluated. I'll keep an eye out for any updates on it, and I'll be sure to share any news I receive.

Agree it needs to be evaluated. This business of times something is power creep 101. What are we going to next powers? Then power towers!

Seriously, if it was 5 mana cost and 3 + the number of cards in your hand that got converted it would get a lot of play.

5mana with x2 gems is still going to be a problem, although that level of power creep will probably kill the game off a few months slower than otherwise.

Kiora really doesnt have a problem drawing cards.

I'd increase the mana cost, and maybe give it some extra secondary ability to compensate, if you're intent on making it OP rather than outright broken.

We've already hit critical mass of gem changers for Kiora to be broken, so we cant really afford to make better ones, no matter how small the jump in power is.

green already has so many gem changers as it is at mythinc level and they are all expensive so make this on par with that and change the wording , in effect make it another kill spell for black. that should help cure the hate for it. green though had very little to help draw except for other of those gem changers and blue so green by itself casts itself into no cards fsat with it. i do anyways but my green deck suck horribly honestly just because of drawing good cards from most every other color.
