Outside the Box Thinkers!

I was pontificating this morning on how outside the box the D3/Hiberium development team thinks.

Problem: Too Many Duplicates
Practical Solution: Increase drop rates or create a duplicate conversion system
Outside the Box Solution: Reduce the amount of cards players get, thus reducing duplicates

Problem: Unfair Tie Breaker System in Events
Practical Solution: Rework the system to recognize ties and reward players appropriately
Outside the Box Solution: Nerf prizes to the point where there is virtually no difference between first place and 50th place so that no one cares

Problem: Same Opponents in Virtually Every Battle
Practical Solution: Fix the matchmaking system
Outside the Box Solution: Remove the incentive of top players to play, incentivizing them to quit the game and then threatening them concerning sharing their login information

Problem: Difficult for Newer Players to Compete
Practical Solution(s): Introduce set rotations in certain events, give them catch up cards, change how mastery is allocated based on event performance, introduce more low level content, etc
Outside the Box Solution: Remove all the prizes from top players so that they quit the game and make it easier for others to compete

I could go on... but I won't.

BTW, outside the box thinking has a place in this world. This is not it. Fire whichever ding bat keeps coming up with these obnoxious solutions that are ruining your game.

I think you make "Outside the box-thinking" look bad because I cannot imagine that they possibly thought they were/are doing that. I hope.

    I am mostly being cheeky.

But, yeah, I guess the real morale of the story is that not all "outside the box" ideas are good. In fact, most of them are flat out terrible.

Noticed that every one and single of their solutions are not to the benefit of players.
If players are not made happy, then what purpose does the game make?

Some would call it, Outside the BigBox Thinkers but we all know BigBox is a lie

I've never been so unexcited about being in 1st place as I am right now. Whee.

    Well played, sir.

Outside-the-box thinking should break people out of stagnancy. Instead, they've caused it.

I hope you have a licence for that.

    You left out

problem Baral is a broken card and is avaiable to use in all but black only battles
Solution change how Baral operates so that it doesn't create continuous loops by decreasing the amount of mana spells get or increasing cost of spells.
Out of box solution hurridly release a black and blue PW so Baral can be used in every single battle.

That IS the conundrum, right there, isn't it?

Where we have people on the forums who make the effort to post their ideas as opposed to the populace who simply play and don't post anything (who, I guess, just go with the flow?) it seems that whomever is responsible for the major decisions makes them not based on that former populace but whatever seems to make sense and will appease the latter populace (appease, here, meaning get them to put more money into the game).

I mostly would point to the change of the card packs and the Trial events, because the logic I've read from these boards makes it seem like it made perfect sense to them, yet most of the people posting on this forum are boggled.

So, the best we can do, now, is not buy what we aren't happy with and hope the rest of the people who don't post are following suit and that gets the product managers for this game to rethink their strategy until more people are happy enough to keep giving them even more money.

Yeah, but the thinking is wrong. One can never succeed long with negative tactics. Improving the game, economy wise will encourage spending across the board. Yes there has to be a balance, but the latest update is extreme.

    Left this one out,

Mana crystal valuation decreasing by the day due to poor drop rates and big duplication problem.
Solution: create more content and incentives to use mana crystals (hence increasing the incentive to acquire or buy)

Out of the box solution: introduce another currency which is much, much harder to obtain, dare I say unobtainable, thereby deflecting attention how little mana crystals are worth. Wait or does it enhance that?

Only saving grace is pws still sold for mana crystals.
