Why I don't spend money on this game.

There are many issues with this game, and despite how negative the title is, the fact remains that I actually would spend money on this game if not for several large issues. Actually, I would love to choose this game as a new hobby and toss some cash into it. But here's why I don't.

1- Rather than create cards with unique powers that can be strategically integrated into decks, D3 designs completely obvious and broken cards. Honestly, it's hard to decide what broken card is right to buy and who knows which ones will get retooled and become bad? Olivia for example. When I first started I regretted not buying her because she was at one time the best card in the game. Often closing out a game by turn 4. Well, now we have Baral. Clearly better as you can win in the first 3 turns. So what's next? Will this game just turn into a turn one win every time? I don't want to play a game like that. Or spend money on it. I would just complete more legacy magic decks IRL of thats the case.

2- Theres a lot of people talking online about how they never receive their products. Thats just terrifying.

3- Drop rates are terrible. I opened FIVE copies of Avacyn. One of only three mythics I have gotten from Innistrad block. All in the search for Olivia. I can't even begin to imagine just how many packs I have opened from that set. 200? 300? I've lost track. And what's worse? I don't even have all the base rares yet. How do you pull 11 smoldering marshes and not have all the other rares??

4- My last point... It seems like D3 just doesn't care. They may respond and say "were working on it" But they constantly make new glaring errors in the game. Overpowered cards. Bad redesigns. And they know what the problems are. The community voice is screaming at them. For once I would like to hear a response other than "were working on it"

But here's my promise...the light at the end of the tunnel. If D3 actually dramatically fixes drop rates, or makes a way for players to buy cards without getting duplicates, or even trade cards with other players, Then I am prepared to buy 6000 crystals and attempt to fill the gaps in my collection. In the meantime, I will just do what most sensible people do and play for free.

I would say this summarizes pretty well why I also don't spend money on the game. Drop rates are less important for me. But the rest, yeah.

I agree. I have spent some money on buying card packs and even a mythic card, however it has been a while since I have done that. The main reason is that the last card pack I bought (I don't remember what it was but I think it was a 3 pack of Kaladesh) I got 1 mythic and 5 rares. Good deal you think? Wrong. The mythic was a duplicate. I do have some mythic cards but I think I only have 3 Kaladesh Mythics. How the F&$K do you get a duplicate of a mythic card, when you only own 3 and mythics should extremely rare? Those 5 rares, 3 of them were the same (that's right, triplicate rares and I already had it so a quadruplicate), one was a duplicate, and one was actually new. Same issue as before, I don't have that many Kaladesh rares so how do I get the same ones so often?

I did get a masterpiece card from a free pack, so there is that. That is a small consolation for spending money to get one usable rare card.

While on that point, D3 has really upped the money grabbing by cutting the pack sizes. Used to be 600 crystals for 15 packs, now it is 300 crystals for 5 packs. That is some serious inflation. I like the idea of having the mana jewels instead of mythic cards for prizes, that way you have to save up the mana jewels to get a random mythic/masterpiece or whatever else they sell for mana jewels in the future.

I would still prefer the chance to win a mythic.
The change has made it that anybody who has only a couple of mythics (like myself) has little to no chance of ever getting another one.
I have ground out for 2 days to try and keep hold of a top 10 place and never managed it because I don't have the cards to keep pace with their wins.
If I can't keep pace for top 10 I'm never going to win a QB bracket against those players with decks full of mythics and good rares.
