Rethink on Vigilance

Vigilance: this creature blocks your opponent's creatures but lets creatures with Defender or Reach block first.
This isnt much different than defender other than it has lower priority.
There are very few times it is mentioned or in any cards, whereas defender or reach is in many.
So I suggest that it gets one change added to it: a creature with Vigilance will only block the first enemy creature it is able to
(so if being attacked by 3 creatures, it will only block the first one it can, and the other 2 will pass it and hit the planeswalker)
This would make a HUGE change in the game and would make creatures with defender or reach more significant and defensive, and it also makes the placement of Vigilance more strategic.
Depending on the situation, it can be both a good and bad change
There are only 3 ways to grant Vigilance: 'Sharp Eyes' (Gideon1 first PW ability), true-faith censer, and Haunted Cloak

I've always thought vigilance was a way for overpowered
cards to get out of the constraints of defender.

Yeah, the problem with vigilance in this game is that it's simply a worse Defender. Not useless, mind you (Gideon v1 + Consul's Lieutenant was one of the nastiest combos around, and now you can replace him with Gisela for even more brokenness; and don't forget the pre-fix Runaway Carriage), but just weird when Defender beats it in most functionality.
I might suggest removing Vigilance altogether, frankly; I mean, given that abilities in card games don't translate verbatim to the PQ version (looking at you, Emerge, Crew and Overload), why must we keep Vigilance anyway? Throw it away, replace all vigilance with Defender, and nobody's complaining.0 -
Well, that nobody would complain, I would not say because vigilance is actually better since defender regarding all those cards that target defender and reach but not vigilance!
But I agree, that it should be replaced with defender to give some worth to almost totally useless cards.0
