How PVP Events Work

I'm curious how the community feels about the way the current PVP system works. I was just playing my heart out on the last Kamala Khan PVP round to try to get more covers of the new 3* Hawkeye. I was rank 30 in the event and stood to get at least 2 Hawkeye covers with about an hour and a half left, but after a long week I ended up falling asleep on my phone mid-match. (my own fault.)

When I woke up I found the event finished, my score depleted by 260 and my reward: 2, 2* Hawkeye covers. I found that really frustrating tbh and it's been my experience for awhile. You put a bunch of effort in at the beginning of a PVP event and remain top ranked for a few days, but if you don't spend hero points on a shield during the last 3 hours, you'll probably end up dropping to a low, useless rank. That just seems a little unfair and not right to me.

I also don't really understand how the whole attacking system works. How do they pair you with people to attack? Is there an algorithm that pits more people against you as your score goes up? Cause that doesn't seem right either. I'd love to know your thoughts.

I don't like the way pvp works on this game, so broken on my opinion. People with high lvl rosters playing on inferior lvls, u may have 700 points and suddenly u get hit by one who has just 100 points, fair?, not at all. But the reality is that will remain the same, because a lot of people uses so many shields, and shields represents money for the company, and at the end, is just business.
I don't have a high lvl roster, I am a casual player, so set your goals for the event. Just get at least 575 points and forget about the placement rewards, get those on pve, much easier and enjoyable. Cheers.

I too would love too know how it works.

When playing, I seem to hit a glass ceiling where no new players appear.
I get the same 3-4 players ( all scalled horendously above me). If I look for a new player, these same ones just end up on repeat. No other options, even if I lose to them.

Occassionally someone new appears early in the game and because of the above, I end up hitting them over and over so as to not miss out on the opportunity.

I don't see why being shielded means you can't be fought.
I'm probably missing something obvious, but I could still hit someone who's shielded, get points and they lose nothing. That way the pool of potential victims isn't diluted.

The shielded player could also gain points from defensive wins. I have a truly marvellous proof as to why this is the reason that shielded players are removed from queues, which this margin is too small to contain.

Everything about PVP is unfair. Stronger rosters win more, the rich get richer, however you want to put it. That's why it's "player versus player" and not "player wins a few matches and gets all the prizes." The people who build stronger rosters and play to the weaknesses of the system will win.

As far as I know, it doesn't pit more people against you deliberately. People will just hit you more because the amount of points you're worth is determined by your score relative to theirs. If my score is 100 and yours is 900, you're going to be a nice, juicy 73-point win for me. If you hit me in the same scenario, you'll get one or two points because my score is so much lower. So, the higher you get, the more desirable of a target you are, the more you get hit.
