Alliance roster spot or personal roster spots?

Just got enough HP to unlock an alliance roster spot. Is that a better purchase than unlocking roster spots for me? I have 22 spots and no spots currently available.

That is a tough question. It's answer really depends on how deep your current 22 roster is and what if any characters you don't currently but want to have exist subtracting any current characters who are increasing in uselessness.

I would gauge what part of the game you are at and look at what your short term goals are. Pick the characters you are looking at collecting and leveling. Look at your roster and view who you don't use unless forced to (like Bag-Man.) If you really don't have enough slots for your current goals, then expand away.

Collecting everyone is not a valid option short term goal though. If you also want to build your alliance, a bigger alliance will earn more HP, so later you can earn back more of that HP to expand further or get another personal roster spot.

Are you really that pained to let go of each and every unused player in your roster to collect the new flavor of the week?

At 22 roster spots, that's a tough call.

How valuable 1-2 more roster slots would be depends on where you are in your progression, and how many throwaway characters you have. I'd lean towards getting the personal roster slots, because I don't think a 6th alliance slot by itself is going to make much of a difference when it comes to getting high-tier rewards. Then again, if that sixth slot is the catalyst for a pay-for-the-next-slot recruitment drive, then you should spring for the 6th slot. Alliance rewards can easily double your HP accrual rate.
  • So, I have one character I can remove (MBW). For the most part, I can't remove anyone else. There are a few chars I want, namely Patch, but I have most of the other new characters, including Super Steve and HT. Perhaps save up some HPs after the next event till I can definitely get another spot if I need it, then get the alliance spot?

Sounds good. I was constantly feeling personal roster constraints until I got 28 slots.

I'm at 27 myself right now, but have 5 characters that are on the chopping block before I'll feel too pressured to buy another slot. I'm in the 2*-3* transition though with a team of 4 maxed 2* and Frank at 102, I'm not really as tied to the rest of my 2*s.

Sure I want to eventually get one of everyone, but another slot is not going to help me reach that point as quickly as more team members in my Alliance will.

Yep, agreed. I don't collect all the characters, either, and just got 3 L100+ about a week ago. I'm at 33 slots, including a couple of placeholder slots for upcoming characters. I kept my 3 1*s: IM35, MBW, MStorm, throw away all other 1*s, and generally chuck Hawkeye/Bullseye variants. It's a good idea to keep a few usable, but definitely not A-team-worthy, characters that are commonly buffed/required in PvEs, though. That's the only reason I keep Loki, Daredevil, Moonstone, and 2* Cap.

For reference, one Djangolier has a complete character collection, and he's up to 38 slots now.
