I made another suggestion that a week or two after these cards are awarded as placement rewards they ought to be the ones people then can purchase for real money, especially in light of how much of an advantage in later events people who got those cards had. However, if the top players are going to leave the game because they're not getting extra rewards anymore, I can't stop you from leaving, but I won't lament it either.
I made this suggestion months ago right after I missed Dynavolt Tower thanks to one **** loss. There were probably more people supporting the idea than those that were against it but D3/Hibernum/whoever calls the shots didn't seem to think it was a good idea. The amount of money they left on the table there is astounding. I would have paid cash for Dynavolt Tower and Aetherworks Marvel. I will not spend cash to buy crystals in the hope that I get the one card I'm chasing. I understand the odds well enough to know that I'll probably never get what I want. Thing is, it's too late for this tactic now anyway because I've learned my lesson that spending money here is a fruitless effort. I have no guarantee that they won't turn this game upside down again in a few months. I'm still pissed I bought Baral right before this update. Well played marketing team. You knew Baral was a cash cow and you knew this update would infuriate people so why not milk the cow first eh?

Anyway, the problem here is not the rewards that the top tier were getting, the problem was that the lower tiers were not getting enough. Top 10-25 should have been getting half a mythic while top 10 was getting a mythic. Getting new cards is what keeps this game fun. Playing the same decks over and over and over and over and over and over (get the point yet?) is not. Getting new cards lets you make new decks. It's fun to play new decks. Games are supposed to be fun.

Yes, there is some skill involved, but there's also the access to certain powerful cards, and a larger variety to chose from when creating strategies which helps out immensely.
If you were paying attention, I missed both Dynavolt Tower and Aetherworks Marvel but I did win Planar Bridge, twice. I have two different accounts that I play. One is my main account in Gold (at the time I won Planar Bridge) and my second account (my alt), I grinded to Silver so I could have a shot at Planar Bridge. On my alt I have eleven mythics, at the time I had nine. One of those nine is Thopter Pie Network. I can list the rest if you'd like but I can say 100% that none of them played a pivotal role in my winning Planar Bridge on my alt. In fact, of those nine I think I only used one in any of my three decks. I'm not trying to brag but I am getting sick of the argument that having mythics is all it takes to make you good.
