Matchmaking

I want to know once again why i am fighting the same 3 people over and over again in the new Planeswalker Arena. It gets really old playing against the same 3 people that have spent a ridiculous amount of money on their decks. Something needs to be done about this horrible matchmaking.

Sorry to hear you're having some trouble finding new opponents. To clear any confusion on matchmaking, the PvP Events will match you against any player who is also in the PvP Event and can be a viable opponent. The only limiting factor for determine who you will fight is the Mastery Tier system, matching players with similar Tier levels within an event. Because of this, it is just as likely for a Level 5 player to encounter a Level 60 character or vice versa.

Is this true for all PvP events? Or just Planeswalker Arena?

Is this something new? Previously, I thought that we would be matched up against another planeswalker at a similar level to mine.

Hi Tombstone, I'd like to have a few things clarified here:

Can you clarify this, please? Do you mean silver vs silver, gold vs gold etc? Because we are familiar enough with that.

Or do you mean the following: a player 100 points into manablue.png platinum will only be paired against players near 100 points into manablue.png platinum? I ask because we players formulated the theory that this was a thing, but after testing have found no correlation between mastery "levels" (value) within your tier (gold/silver etc).

This does not appear to be accurate in the game's current state. Joining an event as a level 5 planeswalker matches you against other planeswalkers in that level range for that node. The level 10 Saheelis in the upcoming event will face level 5-15 planeswalkers on their node.

I don't know who has written the matchmaker but if this is how they believe it works, they desperately need to go review it. Variety of opponents is low to the point that you only see the same 4-5 opponents over multiple events out of a much larger pool. Ask any gold player how sick they are of pairing up against Longshaft, or plat players vs Mersicide, Killwind, and Gunbunny. It makes the events very dull, and it actually takes away a portion of the fun of the game - why bother making a deck for other people to play against when your decks never show up as an opponent?

Nope, that's not true, if you enter an event with a low level planeswalker, you're far more likely to be matched against another low level planeswalker.
