Feedback to the New Event 60 Crystal Entry

Lakestone !! (Brigby or Alve) asked us to take the 100 free manacrystal.png and try this Event to give some Feedback.

First of all i liked it. Really icon_e_smile.gif
It was Fun to play, the first Node is like QB after that it gets challenging and that was cool. The Enraged mode is harder then the Double Mana Node. The last Node is hard.

Will i play this Event again? NO!!

For the amount of time to invest and the manacrystal.png to spend the price to win is to low. If i compare this to Hearthstone Arena there is a need of a price adjustment. The free Pack at the start is worth 60 manacrystal.png but compared to Hearthstone there is no guaranteed rare AND NO Dust Value for a Duplicate. As a lot of players mentioned, the Pack is not worth 60 manacrystal.png .

What would i change...
The payout. If someone is willing to play 12 games and wins this he has to win more then the cardpack.png + 15 iso8.png and 10 manacrystal.png .
First Price give back 20 manacrystal.png. Change the iso8.png start with 10 go down to 5,4,3,2,1 and put additional manacrystal.png to the Price. At the End place the Pack. When i pay the Event and spend the manacrystal.png i will at least get every iso8.png or the biggest amount. Other payouts are frustrating when you get unlucky.

05 Points 20 manacrystal.png
10 Points 10 iso8.png
15 Points 5 iso8.png
20 Points 10 manacrystal.png
25 Points 4 iso8.png
30 Points 3 iso8.png
35 Points 2 iso8.png
40 Points 1 iso8.png
45 Points 10 manacrystal.png
50 Points 10 manacrystal.png
55 Points 10 manacrystal.png
60 Points Pack
If you are lucky enough you will for the Invest of 60 manacrystal.png , and the time for 12 Games get Back a (worthless) Pack, 60 manacrystal.png and 20 iso8.png .

And this will not happen every time.

As i said i liked the Event and the idea but will not play it again until something changed.

Here is your Feedback
Thanks Holli (Christian)

Great points. As a Hearthstone player, my mind immediately compared this new event type to Arena, which is a big part of why I found the rewards so frustrating. In Hearthstone Arena there's a clear "break even" point at around a 3-3 or 4-3 record. In TotP it's not even clear how close you are to breaking even when you have a perfect score! It feels bad when gettingng a perfect score in a purposely difficult event is at best a little better than your entry fee.

I also agree that an important resource in the equation that's overlooked is my time. I get that the developers want me to spend more time in their game, so spreading out crystal rewards over more events is in their interests. However, my time is valuable, and I don't see that reflected in the rewards of TotP.

I agree with the OP that the event was fun, but not worth the 60 crystals. The event should award me a total of 60 crystals back as I play it, because despite your price of 60 crystals per booster pack, they aren't worth that. The only way they are worth 60 crystals is if I can trade those packs for Planeswalkers. Meaning that I can trade 10 packs for a 650 crystal planeswalker. If I can't do that, then the event isn't worth the crystals I'm spending on it.

This is a great review. I took the 100 crystals, but I didn't play it. The equated booster was entirely the reason I didn't play it. I've had this game since the first week it came out and my collection is only missing ONE uncommon card from all of the sets (and it's BFZ) -- also I'm banking well over 300K runes -- there is absolutely no value in a booster for me. If I wouldn't spend any other gift of 100 crystals on a booster, I'm certainly not going to spend it on an event that will give me a booster.

That being said, I have been watching other reviews of the event on Facebook and in other communities and they are less than stellar -- the top-tier players just barreled through it, the mid and lower level players got stuck and with no recharge opportunities didn't even have a chance to keep going.

Finally on principle -- the low payouts and low success margins for bronze and silver players really just makes me feel sick. By playing this event, I would be giving Hibernum the idea that I actually agree with this dirty business decision -- and I have no intention of even hinting that to them.

Of course, if the actual act of playing the game itself was highly enjoyable, then time might not seem so much like a resource that you are using up. And don't get me wrong, this game certainly can be enjoyable, but it isn't all the time. Playing the same PvE events over and over again can become drudgery, and swapping your decks around on a daily basis is tedious. And very, very often, the poor matchmaking and bad AI make your games a terrible mismatch with one side so favored over the other it's barely worth playing it through. We've all experienced the thrill of that closely fought match, and we love it! But it rarely happens.

honestly I feel like this event would be the perfect event to start the process of using runes for entry into events. If you put a price of 10,000 runes for entry and kept the same rewards people would have loved this event. It still wouldn't let everyone play but it would let the vast majority of players participate at least a couple times a week and would make runes have a purpose once you have maxed out all your planeswalkers

I like this idea. players through playing/time can then convert
their unused runes to the more useful jewels. so it goes
    dupes > runes > jewels > dupes(just kidding, there is a chance
of a new card if you choose your timing correctly). newer
players who have use for runes ie haven't leveled up all their
planeswalkers are less likely to have the leveled planeswalkers
and card collection to make best use of any mythic/masterpiece
card. they should try acquiring the less rare easier cards first.

Since the majority of the time, I've been getting nothing but garbage and duplicates from single packs, and the extreme crystal prize reduction in the events, the risk does not match the reward.
60 crystals is not as easy to accumulate, so risking 60 to get one pack and MAYBE get a 15% return on your crystals is hardly a smart choice, especially since I'm getting matched up with more decks that have the irritating trio of Baral, Ulrich or Olivia.
If the crystal prizes in the events were to be raised back to their normal levels, and the drop rates stop screwing me, and the final prize reimbursed the full 60, I'd consider playing the Trials.
As it sits now, all I can say is pound sand!

Hello, I can appreciate that you increased the rewards for the Trial of the Planes events, but I still think some improvement is needed, especially at the lower levels.
In Bronze/Silver/Gold, you are still charging the 60 Jewels, but giving fewer rewards than you do for those players in Platinum.  Some of those players at the lower tiers cannot get to platinum without the Rares and Mythics to master, so they get stuck.  Give them chances to do this!

At the lower tiers, the players need help with more runes, packs, and crystals, more so than the Jewels, but the way the prize structure is setup, nobody would even bother trying Bronze or Silver.

Remember, not only are they spending 60 Crystals for the trial, but the average player will spend 1-2 hours of their time on this event.  It should be fun as well as be challenging.

So, my recommendation is to further buff up the rewards for Bronze, Silver, Gold to include more Runes, Basic Boosters and Crystals.  Just figure out a "conversion chart" for what D3 is comfortable giving and increase those rewards for the various ranks.

Also, keep in mind that it is VERY unlikely that someone in Bronze or Silver are going to be able to get to reward bracket 6 or 7.
