Addressing the complaints about the daily event not being worth 60 crystals...

What if we allowed players to trade manacrystal.png for iso8.png and vice versa?

How much would you guys sell me your iso8.png for?

Three crystals based on the following:

    1. Assumption is Mana Jewels are in Demand, so if I'm selling them to you, I'm charging a premium
    2. 400 gems is the cost to make a random pull at a set of mythics/masterpieces
    3. Pre-purchase Mythic probably worth 1000 crystals based on the game's own valuation
    4. "Random pull" actually devalues the 1000 crystal cost because I don't get to choose what I'm buying, and I might get a dupe or trash

I figure around 800 crystals is a base valuation for a random pull at the masterpiece pack, which puts the actual base value at 2 crystals per 1 mana gem. Due to supply and demand, there is an additional premium of 1 crystal to buy the mana gem.

That's how I derived 3 crystals for 1 mana gem.

    Thanks for detailed explanation.
  • I selected 6 crystals because on this new environment, crystals are near worthless for a player of my level. The portion that possibly supplied a mythic with a "guaranteed rare or better" has been removed from packs, and the crystal cost per card has shot up. Crystals have no purchasing power anymore. But that's not a positive view on the power of jewels; the power that's given to jewels is totally artificial and imbalanced at this rate. Both are useless, but one is so much less useless.

All of this is in comparison to pre-update rates again, because that's how players will always view and judge these changes.

They once had mystics in the offer for 350 crystals, that's why I voted spontaneously for a 1:1 ratio .

If that is still accurate is another question...

    Six or more.
You want my unobtanium? Great! Right now I have no use for it, but I need crystals.
Crystals still buy planeswalkers and I need more.
Unobtanium is near worthless right now but if you're willing to pay for it, I'm more than willing to gouge you.

I agree with this in principle--they established a value precedent--but I think a 2:1 ratio might be more accurate because the mythic packs were far more random. The ability to pick and choose from specific mythic/masterpiece bundles IS worth something.

Ask me again when there's something worth spending my crystals on.
