Can't favorite a character with the "New" tag?

It looks like the "New" banner overwrites the heart? I can't favorite either the *** Hawkeye (which I want to do) or the ***** Hawkeye (which I don't want to do, but still). Anyone else?

    This is how it works, as I recall. New characters can't be made favorites.

    Yeah, this is expected behaviour. From Brigby's original post:

    What is the New Character Tag?
    New characters are also excluded from Bonus Heroes. 3-Star and 4-Star characters have the New tag until the season after they are launched. 5-Star Characters will have the New tag until they have been in the game for two weeks.

    New Characters and Limited Characters (Devil Dino and Howard the Duck) can't be favorited
    good news you now can favorite Mordo or Coulson if you want

    oddly I find Mordo's skill set more intriguing but Coulson is Coulson
