Should I level a PW all the way to 60 for PVP?

Or does it make more sense to stop at like 49 or something so you fight enemies with less health than at 60 and since you have no card restrictions by level, you can eventually get a fast killing deck and have less health to drill through to win 4 banners as opposed to more health for 6?

Right now it's a pretty sweet exploit to leave at least some of your planeswalkers at level 1. You won't fight the hardest opponents in your Tier, and you'll get a huge advantage in objectives like 'win in <=5 turns' or 'win on <=20 life'.

Saheeli will probably be a good PW to abuse this with, she'll be available to buy soon, and there are 'win in <=5 turns' objectives in both blue and red in active events at the moment.

As usual, the dev team show no inclination of closing this exploit. I might move my alt account to my coalition GoblinPile in the next NoP, since last time around he'd have scored more points for my coalition in Bronze Tier than my main account did in Platinum Tier. Although, I have paid for Baral in my main account now... sometimes it's hard for me to decide on exactly how I want to abuse the game in a morally questionable way.

GoblinPile is a coalition, currently riding high in the MTGPQ's leaderboards! If you're looking for a coalition to join, then we are a member of The Alliance, a collection of affiliated coalitions, and hopefully we can find a spot for you whatever your level of play! Send me a msg if you're interested...

There are many other coalitions available to join too...

Off topic a little but how do you have an alt account? I didn't know this was even possible till recently.

Just a new account on a second device or emulator.

Mine was created by accident. When I first started the game, I wanted to play my account on both my phone (Android) and tablet (iPad). It let me setup on the iPad, and even link to the same Facebook account, and give it the same name (my main is lowercase madwren, alt is capitalized Madwren)....but they're two completely separate accounts with no crossover in terms of collection.

It was pretty irritating for awhile since my alt has a bunch of cards I still don't have on my main, like Hixus and Waterveil. Now, however, it's a good way to experience the game from a free-to-play, lower tier (Silver) perspective.

I think you're talking about QB and it seems everyone else is talking about PVP events.

Either way -- if you have the cards to play it at 60 level it, if you don't you'll lose, so don't.

As far as QB goes, a lower level deck isn't necessarily faster -- if you are playing at 49 with level 60 cards you don't have the same abilities and manna gen you would at 60 so it's better to level it.

For events, you should keep your PW at a level of the cards you have to play. If you level it up, and you don't have the cards to deal with other top decks you will just get stomped.

Either way, you should join a good coalition in a community that can help you make these decisions.

    Note note for QB:
You earn ribbons based on your level, and you get one more ribbon for every 10 levels.

    So, at levels:
    1 - 19: 1 ribbon
    20 - 29: 2 ribbons
    30 - 39: 3 ribbons
    40 - 49: 4 ribbons
    50 - 59: 5 ribbons
    60: 6 ribbons.

Thus, if you're going to 49 already (in your example), just go to 50 to get that extra ribbon. icon_e_smile.gif

You should also not face PW that are more than 5 levels above you and given that most of the strongest decks are leveled fully for events, you could level safely to 54 and avoid a majority of the nastier decks.

If there is a PW you specifically want to use for QB going to 54 is a reasonable approach and you won't lose much from gem matches and abilities for the most part. I would certainly follow aenigma's suggestion and get to 50 at the least and earn that extra ribbon.

Level 40 is a good spot for both events and quick battle. My advice would be for now to have some PW at 30 or 40 for events and some level 60 for the PVE events. But the difference between 40 and 60 is not that big anymore anyway, except for life maybe.
