I know this topic has been discussed in the past, but I really have the need to add some insult to the injury.

Cool, **** event. Personally an event that I like. I won't be able to play all the nodes because of time limitation, so I start with the black node. The one I'm comfortable with (Ob lv60).

Fight 1: Mercicide - Lily 1
Cool fight with power shifting to both sides. Nothing my kill spells can't handle.

Fight 2: Mercicide? Again?? - Koth
A fight that inspires you to uninstall this app as quickly as possible. Akoum Firebird, Olivia, Pig. Welcome to mythic hell with hasty double damaging creatures thanks to enraged mode.

After cooling myself down for over an hour, I try again...

Fight 3: Mercicide??? AGAIN??????? - Koth??????????????? AGAIN?????
I don't even bother anymore. I don't want to smash my phone into a wall.

Thanks for this fun experience and thanks for letting us battle off color PWs with super tweaked decks agains our own down leveled decks to meet the objectives.

We the community deserve an explanation about why it has taken so long to fix the match making issue. You said months ago that we are looking into the match making issue then nothing more is said or happens about it. Just like with the node 1 pie for this event. You said we are aware there is an issue and we are looking into it and then it's like you forget about it and say nothing about what your doing to fix it. I only faced mericiside, kilpher and yawgmoth and lagartha once too. Is it programmed for us to have enemies? Please make this and deck slots your number 1 priority.

Guys, we had a thread around here somewhere, in which a theory was made, that the matchmaking isn't "broken" as it is, but a deliberate feat, in which the decks we are facing in platinum are decks which even the otherwise sucky AI could pilot okayishly. That would explain why there has been no attempt yet to "fix" it: In the eyes of the devs there is nothing to be fixed (and yes, they said, they would look into it, but that feels only like "let's pacify them a bit with a story, maybe they will forget"). They want us to get frustrated fighting the extreme decks and go and spend more money to maybe get answers to the difficult opponents.

I would not even mind the difficulty as much, since with the time you get used to some of the reoccurring decks and can adapt to counter them. The real problem is that you can't always adapt if you want to finish the game not only by winning it but by solving the objectives. Just as you said, Machine: Fighting the
super tweaked decks against our own down leveled decks to meet the objectives
is what makes this a really stupid and unfair chore.

And there is also the lack of diversity. I mean, come on, I can basically tell what the AI will play next, when I go against some Mersicide or Kilpher decks, because it is always is the same story, a boring, predictable one.

EDIT: Actually, we should mobilize all the players whose decks are reappearing and they should just downgrade their decks to a couple of low Mana creatures to let us win. Silent protest! icon_e_smile.gif

There is a bug where if you get really frustrated and swipe the application off the screen to quit the match, a couple of things happen:
    1. Your planeswalker doesn't regenerate health
    2. You will face the exact same opponent+deck the next match

It's happened to me a few times and is incredibly frustrating. There is nothing you can do since I agree with you, a Koth deck with Olivia + Akoum (even without Bacon) + Corrupted Graftstone + AI Spamming first ability is not something you can survive unless you get lucky, so this enrages you so much that you cannot help but swipe the application off the screen.

I had a match yesterday against a J2 deck (Kilpher?) running Startled awake, Crush, Engulf, Days Undoing, etc. Like it was a showcase of all the cards I don't have. The AI was also incredibly lucky as I was stuck with off-colour matches against his multi-cascades per turn. I was pulling my hair out. I ended up winning in the end only because it really is a poorly constructed deck in the hands of the AI, since it ends up casting Crush to board-wipe itself, Day's Undoing to throw out 5 fully banked cards, etc. But that type of deck doesn't belong in this event, and all it did was waste my time as I sat there watch the AI stupidly cycle through all of it's cards, throwing everyone's cards out, repeating, etc. If they are not going to rebalance some of these cards, then they at least need to exclude those decks from events. (Hint: It's not an enjoyable experience)

I had already encountered these type of decks so I tried to adjust my deck a bit, still trying to meet all the objectives. I now have Kalastria Nightwatch in my deck, which is a vampire and also has defender. That will at least block Geier Reach Bandit (ah yes, I forgot to mention that one in my first post. Another mythic creature with haste that you have to deal with immediately before he gets even more crazier).

I agree with Kilpher's J2 deck. I've seen that one as well. Might just as well be reading a book while playing against that deck. Yes, the AI sucks at playing those cards properly, but if he manages to place a lucky Crush, you're dead anyway.

I wasn't aware of the bug you mentioned. I can confirm that it hasn't kicked in here, as I finished my match against Mercicide's Koth deck the first time. I even managed to beat it by directly killing every creature he cast. It was a close one as every one of them deals massive haste damage. The only reason I won was because of my zombie army created by Oath of Liliana and multiple Grotesque Mutations. Anyway, even when winning this match, it is still very frustrating how the matchmaking takes place and that OP decks that have NOTHING to do with this event get paired against you. I didn't want to play the same match again. I don't mind encountering these decks in QB where there are no deck construction rules and / or secondary objectives. They just don't belong in these events.

Yup, I got MarsDeon in 7 out of the 9 fights in the first few rounds of this **** event. It was nuts. Didn't even make basic progression because he rolled me several times.

I wonder how many of the Masterpieces Mersicide will get?

Well, I started to join events late so less people will run into me, guess that doesn't work

Why he will get the them all but the AI will obviously not play them as intended icon_e_biggrin.gificon_e_biggrin.gificon_e_biggrin.gif

Cheers for trying, Mersicide. We know it isn't your fault. Well, except that you're such an effective deck builder that we fear you. =)

It wasn't Merscicide for me. I played all of my nodes last night. I think I faced Kilpher for 8 matches. the most i had ever seen... of course those are the decks i fear most...

If that were true, then why is Elvin1972 such a familiar name?

It seems many of us face the same opponent over and over again. This isn't about RNG or statistics anymore and definitely something that should be looked into.

    Hey Mersicidal: nice cards! icon_e_wink.gif

Hey guys..... guys... guess what? icon_e_smile.gif

I'll tell you what, it's a bit of a coincidence that the random number generator picks out this one player to be our opponent all the time, and now it's picked him out to be the first recipient of a masterpiece card, isn't it?

It's just so that people get soon to face up against one of those Masterpieces in Legendary mode, get pwned and then crave them even more.
