Poll: Decouple color mastery from match making in events?

Hi,
I'd like to know if you'd like to see the matchmaking in events decoupled from the color mastery.
I'd like leave it open for now, in what way the new matchmaking in events would be or what the color mastery could be used for instead of grouping players in tiers.
Of course, feel free to post ideas (I saw already a few here on this forum), tell us, why everything should stay as it is or even state why you don't care, if you like to.
Regards!

I'm in gold for now but I would like to play against decks from platinum however it seems a bit excessive to match up a newer player still in bronze with a platinum deck.
Maybe instead of completely decoupling the color mastery from matchmaking you could match decks up within one tier of each other.
If you are in bronze you could be matched up with decks from bronze or silver, if you are silver you could be matched up with decks from bronze silver or gold, and so on.
I don't think it should be separated from matchmaking though so my vote is no.0 -
Wouldn't be better to instead of artificial tiers matchmake on the basis of content of the desk? Each mythic 10 points, rare 5, unc 2, common 1. Just sum it up. Of course numbers can be tweaked.0

The tiers aren't artificial. They are there to separate the hard core players from the new and casual ones and also to give players incentive to play a wide range of cards.
Those who are in platinum worked to get themselves there. Matchmaking based on the rarity of cards in a deck would be more luck based or based on the amount of money a person has dropped on cards just to get those specific cards.0 -
I think it's a bad idea to judge a deck by the rarities of the cards inside because not all cards in one rarity are equally strong. But with that you would judge a World Breaker like Olivia.
I'd like to see matchmaking by performance. It should be a league kind of style. You start in bronze league. If you do well, you advance to silver league, and so on.
It would not matter anymore, what level your planeswalker is and leveling them up would finally be an advantage. You would just have to adjust the rewards so that it is not beneficial to perform bad go down a league and then perform very good.0 -
I moved to Platinum because I wanted to play Platinum level decks. I would not be as engaged if I just played anything.0

But that would be the case if league.
And if you keep the names (Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze) the players could just stay in that league, but would also now go up or down, based on their performance.
Rewards would be given out on the rank that you're at in the end of the event. That is also your starting position in the next event.
Players could be matched up 10 ranks above or below them, for example. So you won't be put against a bad performing deck, when you're doing good.0 -
Color Mastery should not be determining what tier you play in. Give out some sort of other benefit for mastering cards--several good ideas have been posted.
Let players select what tier they want to play in each event, possibly subject to certain restrictions with experience or decks, and make the tier rewards increase enough that players should aspire to play at the highest tier they can be competitive in. As opposed to the current system that encourages sandbaggers in Silver/Gold tiers.
Maybe the upcoming Jewel rewards will fix that incentive to move up tiers. I'd still prefer a system where you're not forever locked into a higher tier. It's healthier for the game if players can try playing a harder tier one event, then go back to lower tier the next event if they don't feel competitive. The current system creates a counterproductive fear of moving up a tier and never being able to undo that decision.0
