Anyone have a advanced soft capped roster? Fully covered 3* 4* characters, but under leveled?

If you do, mind sharing your roster, thoughts and experiences doing this pve and PvP wise.

The only reason I would soft-cap a fully covered character is for ISO reasons, so I'll just list my general strategy. I have all 3* characters championed except for Thanos where I'm still lacking covers, so this only applies to 4*:

    1. When a character reaches 9 covers, I bump them to 185. This allows them to be useful when boosted, and easily win their Clash. Well, except for Mr. F who can't win his clash even when champed icon_mad.gif
    2. When the character reaches 13 covers, I only champ then if they're top 15 or so.
    3. When a 14th cover comes in, I champ unless ISO is short AND they're low tier.

I manage my ISO pretty closely so I can champ a level 185 character at all times, so the only thing I have to manage for the soft-cap is what is low tier.

At the moment, the only 4* I have soft-capped with 13 covers is Wolvie, and I have enough ISO that I'll probably champ him when a new one comes in, although I have enough higher-end characters at 10-11 covers that I might change my mind when the moment comes.

Soft capping is a strategy that works decent in the PvE (provided you don't have any 5* already on your roster). In PvP any team with softcaped 4* has an automatic bulls eye for all the championed 4* and all the 5* team.

If you have 5* without iso in them then you might as well softcap 4* at around 180 (when boosted they will not increase the scaling much over the 5* threshold). That way your PvE experience should be "easier" compared to people with championed 4* and 5* teams. In terms of placement - can't tell you. I know that if I put the effort in (and I am 4* players with over 20 champions) i can get top2 finish on a new release. On other events I just cruise to top50 finish. So the scaling is not killing me. If it would be easier with softcap - maybe.

In PvP reality is probably something around 650 points unless you plan to shield a lot. If you decide to champ - 800-900 can be achieved without shield (one to guard the score at the end if you want to) and it opens a shield-hopping road to 1,2k.

As much as I hate the increased scaling in the PvE (which seems like punishing for spending iso) there is limited benefit of staying softcapped. One extra disadvantage - you will have to sell the extra covers for 4* as they can't be champions levels.

Just a heads up, in the latest dev community video, they spoke about switching scaling to be based on what SCL level you choose in Story events not your roster. So soft-capping may no longer give any tangible benefits when that takes effect in the future.
