LR bracket size

It seems that the current LR bracket sizes are much larger than they were previously. (I'm not counting the 20 player brackets for Capt Marvel)
Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but I thought they were limited to 500 players.
I joined at 1600+
Is this a bug?

    Lightning rounds don't have brackets. Everyone is competing for the top prizes.
