Am I hurting myself with PVE/PVP scaling regarding 5*s?

Hi, I read up on this topic in the forums, still little confused and hope someone can give me some advice. I was curious if I'm hurting myself much with scaling in PVE/PVP due to having some unsuable 5* characters. Currently I'm doing the 2nd round in Gauntlet and on the 5th node, where the characters I face are already level 222, which I felt is very high, especially considering that's not half way through round 2, then have all the nodes in round 3. Non Gauntlet rounds, I've typically been able to clear all the nodes lately, the scaling still seems very high and some can only clear with a team like Scarlet Witch/Grey Suit Black Widow/Xforce. The boss type events, last event I got through about 2 or 3 rounds, then the pre-boss nodes the characters were like level 280 or higher and I couldn't complete anymore rounds.

Also, for PVP, I joined a new guild requiring me to hit at least 300 points, I don't have much a problem doing that, but once I get there, the teams I face are all super leveled beyond what I can take down, lot of 5* maxed teams pop up before I even get to the 400-500 range.

I was curious if selling the several 5*s would be a big difference for me, but it's tough as I tend to be a collector/completionist in games I play. I don't know if I've ever used those 5*s as they only have 1 or 2 covers, maybe I tried out OML once but don't remember. I do open legendary's as I get them as I'm still trying to work on covering my 4*s. My user name is tonypq , alliance Alpha_Dogs, and my roster is,

3*- Championed are BP, GSBW, Cy, Cap, Cage, Daken, Patch, Doom, Witch, Blade, Marvel, Torch, R&G, Fist, Deadpool, Hulk, KK, Hood, Magneto, Thor. All other 3 stars are either full covered, or a few missing a cover or 2.

2* Chamiponed are Ares, BW, Marvel, Storm, Daken, Bagman, rest fully covered

Should I hold onto my 5*s or sell them ?

Should I stop leveling 4*s and soft cap them until I fully cover others or level up/champion a few ?

I'd like to add, until recently I had never been in a guild that placed high enough in anything to get any higher tier rewards or 4-5* covers. The 4/5*s I have are pretty much from buying a pack once in a blue, or championing 3*s then using the legendary tokens. So finishing off 4*s will be mostly luck of the draw for me even in a better guild that we attain 4*s sometimes, I need so many to make some I have now playable. I also only have about 21 3*s left to champion and then use the legendary tokens, in hope to try and fully cover some more 4*s. I have about 30 4*s with 2 covers or less and only Xforce/Fury fully covered, after that Dino/Inv Woman 12 covers, and 7-8 covers for Ant-man, Professor, Sam Wilson.

Any replies are greatly appreciated, I'm really confused.

Don't sell your 5s, your scaling is pretty appropiate for what you have.

My advice, keep leveling and champ your 2s and 3s. Then focus on your 4s and keep pulling tokens for 4s, and don't level your 5s. Scaling is meant to be high for gauntlet and pvp mmr is always fubar.

Maybe go for a pve focused alliance cause you'll always have that pvp mmr and pvp imo is not a viable option until you have champed 4s. If anything it's your champed XFW that is effecting your scaling the most.

Edit: champ your im40 asap. Things will get so much better for you with him champed. He is the essential 3 star to have at this point.
