Lifelink from killing blow

For a while it seemed like if a creature with lifelink dealt the killing blow to an enemy planeswalker, then the life was added at the end of the match. This helped with earning some bonus ribbons in events and to keep a stream of QBs without having to use potions. It seems like this has stopped happening though; if a lifelink creature kills an enemy planeswalker, it no longer links life. Does anyone know whether this change was intentional?

I've been playing this game for a year and have never seen a life gain from a killing blow to an opponent. Always thought it was something that should have been given though, but just figured it was part of the game.

Interesting to me that you did get the life gains.

Same. I do not recall receiving the health.

No it does not lifelink on the killing blow, but the timer on your health regen out of game starts when you gain any life. That's what you would be seeing.

Actually there is a bug in one of the events that for some reason counts the killing blow to you end life. Can't remember which one.

I suspect that the reason they do this is a byproduct of ensuring that matches never tie. If you end a match immediately after one player hits 0 life, don't have effect which simultaneously deal damage to both players and don't resolve any other effects after a player hits 0, you ensure hat would can't have two players hit 0 at the same time

So I doubt they will fix it as it's a good safety practice not to resolve effects after death.

Funny thing is if you give berserker and trample to the lifelinker which deal killing blow over creature - you'll get the amount of life equal to the creature toughness.

I think the intention here was to ensure that people occasionally had to use healing potions. I'm not sure they achieved that objective.

Hm, maybe I'm making it up, but I'm pretty sure they changed it at some point. When I started playing a few months ago I definitely did not get life gain from the last hit in a game. Then I started getting it and immediately noticed since I had written them asking for the feature. Maybe it was just the event but someone mentioned, but I don't think so because I distinctly remember getting it in QBs and thinking it would help me get away with using fewer potions.

The only time I have ever noticed a killing blow giving me life is when the creature that dealt the damage had lifelink, berserker and trample, killed the creature and the trample damage finished off the opponent.

I presume it's a side effect of MtGPQ not dealing all combat damage simultaneously as you would in paper Magic.
