Do I have a shot at top 25 in Heroic LRs?

Hi there, I'm a long time lurker and just ran into a dilemma that I can't find the answer to in the forums (a first since these forums are chock full of great info!).

I currently have the following line up:

Magneto C. lvl 115 4/3/4
All of the top tier 2* at lvl 85
All of the featured heroes (but only 3-4 covers each)
and a lvl 26 Hulk (5/1/1) that I can level to 69.

If I level Hulk to 69 do I stand a chance of getting top 25 in Heroic LRs?

Last week I only had a 3 cover magneto C. and lvl 66 Doom and I managed to nab 9 Diabolic tokens and get 7th place in a Magneto LR. I'd love to get similar results in the heroic LRs but I get the feeling that these are much more competitive.

If top 25 is unlikely I'd rather save the ISO for C. Magneto since I have a blue token coming up next week as a daily reward.

So what do you guys (and gals) think?

Sad news is, despite having an OK roster, your chances on top 25 in LR are damn slim. Lightning Rounds are the most intense tournaments in the current metagame, with lots of players farming for Iso and a great number of others sucking for the top rewards. The tourneys get insanely brutal near the end, and you're guaranteed to get your **** whopped when you exceed a certain amount of points, as you'll inevitably become an easy target. In order to be succesful in placing high in Lightning Rounds, you need to:

1. Field a squad of three featured characters well above level 100, that's non-negotiable. Two-stars are not enough for that sort of tourneys, they lack firepower.
2. Be mentally prepared for a real struggle in the end, and have HP ready for shielding. Timing is crucial too, as you may be late with the shield when the massive avalanche of attacks occurs. If you do, you'll end up losing about half of your amassed score.

Sorta doable, but a) better fight at an off-time when most players are deep asleep, still tons of competition, but it helps; b) tank prior to a LR a bit so that you can accrue points on easier teams faster.
AFAIK, top 50 is also good since it awards 1 Courageous token?

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I might be better off just tanking these LRs and finish off my Magneto and Hood in the next Villain LRs.

It just gets kind of frustrating looking at my 30 man roster and only having 7 characters at a usable level.

Oh I see, how silly of me. Do try anyway, it's good participating in the rounds just for ISO and heroic tokens. Pulled a Psylocke when pushed out of top 25 last time, didn't need it but Heroic tokens present a better chance of 3* than Standards anyway.

What does top 25 work out to anyway? I know that you need to have at least 500 to have a chance at top 8

The more I think about it, top 50 isn't that bad. Worst case is I sell both 2* covers for 500 iso plus the 500 iso reward. Not bad. I should be able to recoup most of the ISO I invest into the Hulk.

Of course it's not bad, looking at your roster and where you are in the game, you should consider top 50 placement in any Lightning Round a success. Good luck in climbing the ladder, you're gonna need it.

Heroic LRs award only random tokens unlike villain LRs... I remember no such thing as being required to have 500 pts for a placement, it depends on timing and tanking too. And one has to start somewhere, no need to shy away from a good source of tokens. Even Heroic tokens might turn out useful for a 2* player.

Hero LRs are generally more competitive, but if you got #7 in a CMags LR (the most competitive villain LR), you should be good for Top 25 in Hero LRs.

I'm in nearly the exact same place: 32 slots, 7 usable characters, 5 characters I actually use.

Don't feel bad, most people who play the game are in your exact situation rosterwise. I have 34 slots, and only three characters over 65, and two of them are different Thors. Everyone else is either cover capped or I don't like them much.

LR's are almost completely about tanking your MMR (or playing at a bunch of different hours of the day and getting lucky in a low turnout.)

People that don't tank are caught in the 300-400 swamp trading blows and shielding, whereas those that tanked their MMR get to float on through to 450-600 range away from everyone else's reach.

Heroic LRS are also more of a ****-shoot

You don't know what cover you'll get and you need to be in top 25 instead of top 50 to get a 3* reward

On top of that more people seem to have high level 3* hero's than villains and since they're buffed alot, cmag will be relatively mediocre for these.

In the end though, LRs are still probably the best place to make ISO even if you only go to 100, do it every 2 hours and it adds up fast
