How to score high in PVP. (Please help)

Can somebody please post for me the template for getting 1200 points in PVP?
I can't seem to do it and I have a great roster. (Not posting it because gamependium only seems to allow 13 updates per edit and I got over 100 on my roster.)
I can only get to 400 before the beatdowns start.
I need a step by step guide. Timing, when to sheild, how to queue up to get points and minimize by retaliation.
I do enjoy the game but am frustrated by not ever being able to place high. Once in a while would be nice.

I'm no expert but if the beat-down starts at 400 you probably do not have as good of a roster as you think.
post your alliance and people can go see your roster if you want them to0 -
The way you ask you can probably count on one response: use your max championed OML and Black Bolt and you will be fine.
In reality there are plenty of guide and tips around the game help forum. Try reading them first and then try testing the ideas. There is not one way of doing it outside of having championed 5*. For most of the rest it is try and error exercise that costs a lot of nerves and hero points. Is it worth the extra CP? Not for me.
As for the beat down at 400 - this is strange for somebody with ambition to get to 1200. My roster can float at around 600 points and I don't regard it good enough to push for the 1,2k (I settle at 900). So maybe you overvalue yours?0 -
If you're getting hit at 400, you're not even remotely ready to get a full clear.
With my roster, I don't even regularly try for 900.
My PvP goals are 400 first, and then 575. 400 you get the hero points, and 575 you get the command points. I can start with about 1 hour left, and hit 575 without issues usually.
The other thing is that you are probably using offensive teams with poor defense. People pick on low defense all the time.0 -
what are your best 5 characters? that would make it easier to suggest what to do, as its different strategy to score 1200 with 5* and 4* .0

Believe me, it's a long and frustrating road.
2.5 years in, and I can only do it when the stars align correctly, after an entire day spent of perfectly performed 3-minute shield hops. And if at the final shield hop, you somehow only end up with 1120 points, well then.... oops!0 -
It's going to be hard for people to answer a question like this without posting your roster, or at least giving us who your strongest teams are that you usually use. You're talking 1200, not 900, or even 800. A 2* roster has NO chance at that whatsoever. A 3* roster is HIGHLY unlikely, and a 4* roster SHOULD be able to hit it consistently.
For most people like me in the 3-4* transition, it's really on an event-by-event basis. Your boosted characters are going to be what really makes or breaks you in any event. Champed 4* characters do practically double the damage they usually do with their techniques, so having one of the boosted 4s champed, or at the very least well covered and leveled, makes a world of difference. I still haven't hit 1200, but I'm starting to be able to hit 900 more consistently if get lucky with the boosted folks. For example, I have 5 4* champs:
Unboosted, none of these guys really scare anybody that has a 4* roster, which is generally what you can expect of the people that regularly score 800+. Boosted champed Iceman however can do like 16K with his blue, and up to like 12K aoe at least, which is definitely enough to give some people pause. It isn't just about having a team that can beat a lot of people, equally as important is having a team that wont get you hit as much when you're unshielded. The only defense against getting hit is being fast, but you can only be fast if you've got the right team to get the job done. 3* rosters CAN beat 4* star characters, but the increased health of a 4* character (especially a boosted one) means that it will take longer, giving the 4* characters more time to gather AP to obliterate you.
Long story short, once you hit a certain point level, you are only going to see rosters that are capable of hitting that point level. So if you can't beat a boosted 4* team, your potential will always be limited to 800 or lower. You just have to hope that the week's boosted characters will give you an edge.0 -

I have 10 champed 4*'s, including teen jean, cyke, hulkbuster and prof x and a 4/2/3 lvl 285 oml and I still haven't hit 900 - let alone 1200.0

Wonderboy,
Thank you for your reply. It is very helpful.
After reading the all the replies I see I needed to amend what my goals are:
1. I am actually looking to hit 900 points consistently. 1200 points is a bit of a stretch.
2. Still looking for a step by step for getting to 900 points without the beatdown.
3. I'm not against using shields but I don't want to waste the HP if I can't hit the numbers.
I've also added my roster to my signature so people can see what I have.0 -
First of all, stop putting iso into your 5-stars. That's not doing your MMR any favors.
Second, exactly what you are looking for is located in the Tips & Guides section of these forums. Just a tiny bit of looking gets you something like this: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=332830 -
After seeing your roster, I don't think you can consistently even hit 900.
My roster is more developed than yours, and I've only tried and hit 900 like 3 times ever.0 -
Usually you need at least 2x5 +lv.400 for overpase 1.000 points, sometimes you can do with OP 4* as RHulk, Cyclops or Thor-ess but they are powered only a few times. Is better to improve your roster as BoyWonder1914 says and take it easy. Also don't forget to use a shield last 3-2-1 hour event ends or you will be a big target for everybody.0

This is just blatantly wrong. There are plenty of people with champed 4* that are making 1200+ in almost all slices.
As for the OP, for 3* roster like yours a reasonable goal is 800-850 getting the 3* cover some more iso and another token. Maybe with enough shield expenditure 900, but you want to be # out with about 24h left. Late climbers will eat you alive.0 -

Very important to note that this guide is pretty outdated. 4* characters are a much bigger part of the game than they used to be at the time this was made. Main issues:
1) A 3* roster can't realistically expect to float at 500. There's 4 star rosters that can't even do that.
2) This doesn't really take MMR into account. Specifically the people that are just entering 4* land. Once you champ your first 4 stars, you are DONE seeing all 3* teams on a regular basis. From the game's perspective you are now in the same tier as 4* rosters, even though yours isn't as developed as most people's you'll get matched up with.
3) The guide also doesn't really account for point dynamics. The amount of points people are worth to you, and vice versa, is based on the amount of points you both have. That's why you see the value of the same q's start to go down as you win matches, and go up as you lose. Also why a match may be advertised as a certain amount of points, but then ultimately being worth more or less. It means that in the time since you q'd that person, they have either lost or gained significant points. You can only queue up people that are a certain range of points below or above you. For example, at 200 points, you can't q someone that has 700+, and vice versa. 38 points is your benchmark. If a match is worth 38 points, that means that that person has pretty much the same amount of points as you, give or take about 50 ish. So if you want to climb ideally, its better to hit a bunch of high point targets with few matches, than to hit a bunch that aren't worth much. Hit less people on the way up also means less chances for retaliation.
Also, I forgot to mention a really important thing, which is that I'm in a competitive alliance. The really good alliances have people called "frontrunners" that enter events early on and amass points. This means that they will be worth a lot of points to the people below them. As their alliance members start to score enough points to be able to q them, they find easier matches that they can win without using their strongest people. This is called "grilling". Their alliance mates thus q up their "grill" team, and can get an easy win on that worth a lot of points, rather than struggling to find beatable q's as their points get higher. Obviously you're only gonna run into top tier teams as you score more points, which take longer to beat, so it helps to be able to find these "grill" teams. If you've ever scored a high amount of points and saw one of these "juicy ques", that person is most likely grilling for their alliance. Every time I've hit 900 thus far, it's because I've used at least one grill from my alliance mates. It's still possible without eating grills all the way up to your target, but just a lot more work.0 -
