alright, about the RNG there have been countless other threads and its been a topic of discussion for months now. whether its for matchmaking or drop rates. the matchmaking in platinum sucks. it really does. all it takes is a slight tweak on the RNG to fix this, cant be much work and it would help increase variety and fun in the game by so much. should be a pretty easy and simple change.

for the drop rates, this could really be a whole other topic honestly, but I have thought of a super easy and simple change that would benefit literally every single player in the game. make BigBoxes give you 1 guaranteed mythic, Fat Packs a guaranteed rare and make the mythic/rare average ratio look like this:

1 mythic average in every 10-20 packs
1 rare average in every 5-10 packs
(for 5 card packs).

all relatively simple changes that would benefit the game enormously. icon_e_smile.gif

One consequence of such a change that you could expect would be for the power level to climb for the entire player-base, since this would cause the number of mythics given out by big boxes to increase by about 140%, and the number of rares given out by fat packs to increase by about 110%.
and make the mythic/rare average ratio look like this:

1 mythic average in every 10-20 packs
1 rare average in every 5-10 packs
    (for 5 card packs).
Apparent current rates (below) lie within those ranges, and are actually better than your proposed rare range:

1 mythic average in every 19-20 5-card packs
1 rare average in every 4-5 5-card packs

Personally, I think the easiest and best change to the way cards are earned would be to add a pity timer on mythics. For example, if a player got no mythics from opening say 350 cards (5 boxes worth), then a guaranteed mythic drops in their next pack and their timer is reset. This would only increase the mythics given out from packs by about 2.5%, but would place a hard limit on drop rate bad luck that could be experienced by any one player. (This works best if there's a separate timer per player per card set, otherwise it can be gamed to get a guaranteed mythic in a set of the player's choice.)

Wow! I didn't think that the drop rates were anywhere near that good. They certainly don't feel nearly that good when you're opening packs :/. Thank you for bringing this to my attention!

Fair enough, my suggested changes are indeed to drastic. I still think the drop rates should be increased somewhat. Mainly for that feeling, opening a big box and getting only the guaranteed rare feels bad. It's really quite demoralizing. I can't imagine what a new player opening their first big box and only getting a bad rare would feel like. I remember grinding for my first BB and getting 2 mythics made me feel amazing! But I had also thought to myself that if I didn't get a mythic I'd quit icon_lol.gif

People's natural tendency is to sort of overlook duplicates when they get them. It's an understandable impulse. This makes the rate "feel" lower than it is.

I'm not even talking about duplicates. It still feels bad to only get 1 rare out of a BigBox that you've spent a lot of time grinding for, trust me I remember how long that grind takes and it cannot be a good feeling to get only 1 rare (new or not) from something you spent many hours working for.

Oh, I know. I've had those too. I've also had 2 mythic boxes. And a few instances of surprise mythics in single boosters. It all evens out in the end. But I can appreciate the stinging disappointment of a poor luck box.

Yeah I wish the drop rates were a bit more even, mainly for newbs but also for the more competitive people here. It would just be a generally good change I think. They shouldn't be changed to much, or mythics would be flying left and right. But I do think that some tweaking is in order.

If this ever became a reality, I would actually spend money on crystals again. When you drop 100 bucks on crystals, blow them all on Big Boxes, and not pull one mythic, not even a dupe, you learn your lesson the hard way... "only buy exclusives" (Unless it's KLD and they're all terabad) They've kept the drop rates atrocious and its still profitable to them apparently. Some people love throwing money away, I guess.
