Moon Roach

Although I loathe this event with a passion, I thought I'd give it a go with my new Simulator team of Carnage, Medusa, Mr Fantastic.

The first non-seed team I saw was one I liked the look of, so a skip and a steal later, I'm now running Medusa, Ant-Man, 4* Blade. Gosh it's mighty.

:edit: Wolveroach has gone with Juggernaut, Kamala, and Star-Lord. His S-L is only 5/2/5, but that still drops the cost of Headbutt down to 4. I might try someone else instead of S-L, not sure who yet, maybe Hood.

I typically haven't put too much effort into this event, but I've been hitting PvP in general more now that I have my first three 4* Champs.
That said, what's the strategy in BoP since characters are more equalized?
Certainly match damage stills differs among the tiers, and abilities are still stronger for 4*s. So after climbing with whatever team combos get you through it, what team compositions do you push with before shielding (and choose to remain on defense)?

champed 4*s are the real powerhouses in this event and any three champed 4*s with any kind of synergy will do fine. no matter the opposition youre still playing an "ai" thats as dumb as a box of hammers. the only question is how much damage youll take along the way. and you will probably catch a cascade or two that will cost you a match or two. just the nature of the event. once its starts going bad it generally just keeps going. enjoy the grind.

Firstly, it's unclear what team is your general defensive team. It's been said that it's the "strongest" team with which you won, but there's been no clear definition of "strongest". It's especially murky here, where everyone is 550, but my guess is that it's cover / HP related, and probably the * level of the characters comes into play. Win a match with Juggernaut / Venom / Yelena, that's probably not as strong a team as 3 fully covered 5*. Probably.

To me the most important aspect of this event is covers. A level 550 1/1/1 OML is a lot less scary than one with 13 covers, so it's always worth checking the roster of the opponent.

Pick a team that works together. Off-the-wall combinations can gain you defensive wins because "everyone" knows how to beat OML / Phoenix / Whoever or Peggy / IM40 / Iceman because they're seen ALL THE TIME, but the unexpected can lead to overconfidence and a slip.

It's off-season. Unless you're after Punisher covers, aim for your progression target then shield or not.

I've had good success with Switch - Shulk - Hood. It's been skipped a lot and at least early on those who tried it, failed. When it gets going (which doesn't take long) it becomes extremely difficult to use powers on, very annoying.

Now that I'm up in points and the event is ticking down more 4* teams are hitting it, so meh. Still fun and the board shake is immense.

This. I couldn't beat this team so I decided to use it. Continuous spamming, self healing and buffing. Matches take forever with all the Animations but worth the win in the end.

I relied on Star-Lord, Nova and Iceman here. Worked very well. The team to beat for me seemed to be OML, Peggy Carter and Iron Man 40, but as long as I neutralized Peggy first to stop her passive that wasn't a problem.
Kind of glad I didn't run into more Medusas though. The few I fought were enough.
