Roster Advice

It suddenly dawned on me that I have no idea which 3* characters I'd like to get. I was pretty sure of what I wanted with my 2* roster so I had no problem raising the team I wanted. But I don't really know how to proceed since initially what I wanted was Lazy Thor / GSBW / Hulk team. It seems it'll take me a while to build them up. Although I've pumped some ISO to the Punisher, I didn't really think it through since he just worked well with 2* Wolvie and Daken as my backup team. Any suggestions on which 3* team I should focus on instead? Thanks in advance.

You don't have enough covers in any 3* to make them outclass a L85 2*. Punisher is closest to viable. There'll probably be another couple of events featuring Mr. Rogers cover rewards, so he might be a good bet. The same goes for Human Torch and the upcoming Dakenator.

When the next Villain LRs hit, try to get some Doom covers. Getting him to 9-10 covers would make him a good, serious 3*.

If you're asking what covers to chase and you like Lazy Thor (who doesn't?), maybe look at completing a rainbow. Classic Mags would be an excellent choice with a 5/3/5 build to cover blue and purple. The only color you are lacking then is black. Maybe Psylocke after that? Her black is cheap and nasty when maxed, and you might even find yourself using her red over Thor's because her red strike tiles make Magneto's blue even nastier to spam.

In Polarity's guide, it did mention that the easiest way to get 3* covers was while they were new. I only get 3-5 covers for the past few characters (lazy Cap, lazy Thor, BP). But you do have a point. I'll be focusing on Doom to provide me some options. Thanks HailMary.

Yeah, sorry. I did mean which covers I should chase. Never really gave Psylocke much thought, thanks. I didn't consider the cheapness of her abilities' AP cost.

No problem. The next round of LRs are Hero LRs. Those only give out tokens, but they're a good place to try to pull some Punisher (and Hulk).

I recommend Doom because he only has two colors, which means you only need Top 8 in LRs to get all of his colors. Doom is also a force multiplier in villain LRs, because LR-buffed Doom is scary, aiding your acquisition of CMags and Hood.

You might also want to consider chasing OBW, even though she is 2*. Her set of skills is extremely valuable, she often gets fielded along with 3* characters, especially in absence of a viable Spidey.

I never actually got her covers until 2-3 weeks ago. I'm not sure when she'll be up for grabs again. I'm hoping that she'll be featured in the heroic Venom so I can have better chances to pull her from the tokens. If not, I may consider maxing her covers through HP the next time money comes around. Will she be a good investment?

Hey guys, just an update on my roster. Managed to get a couple of Lazy Cap covers just like everyone else. I'll probably get 1 cover each for Punisher's red and black abilities after the ongoing Hotshot. So it looks like Steve and Frank are the most viable 3* I have. I'm not sure about going for cMags (don't know about his nerfing status, not sure if it'll push through or not since I don't read up on him) but I'm actually more interested in getting Uber Daken. I'm planning to keep Punisher and Cap at level 85 until I get more covers for the third guy. Is that the right way to go? Also given the state of my roster, is it wise to spend some cash to get my third 3*?
  • Don't worry so much about a "third" 3* guy unless you are already close to getting one. Most PvP tournaments have a featured hero (take Hot Shots for instance), which means you are only going to bring along two guys. Focus on levelling up two of your 3* heroes. In your case, Punisher and Cap are your best choices since they are closest to being fully covered. Your Psylocke isn't that bad off either.

I would also recommend continuing to cover and level OBW, she will have a lot of long term usage for you, and also makes a good "third" for people transitioning from 2* --> 3*.

What Mizake said. Punisher covers in Hotshot should push yours to 3/4/5, which means that he should be your first 3* to focus on since you can get him up to 128 with 12 covers. I'm not sure about leveling Cap as well: he doesn't seem to synergize terribly well with Punisher, but it's probably fine since Punisher is more about his green/black than he is about the red anyways. I guess you can start working on him after getting Punisher to 128, since a 128 punisher will be significantly better than your 2*s compared to a 100 cap.

Yeah, sorry about that. Thanks for understanding what I meant though. Also thanks for pointing out that I do only need two to play most PvPs. Although my concern is when one of them is featured.

Yeah, I've played them together in The Hunt and it took me a lot longer to finish up nodes compared to what I usually use, cStorm and MN Mags (Though to say that may be unfair since cStorm's Wind Storm is wicked in The Hunt due to the buff). Also, My alliance may not get the green cover for Punisher since everyone's so busy with The Hunt.

You should rally them to go for the Punisher cover: a 20 man alliance means that your guys just need to average 600-700 points per person, which should easily be doable given that you guys look like you're in the 2->3* phase. I think it makes more sense practically to go for that than to try and minmax the hunt, which you can get most of the points by rubberbanding.

A couple of us did rally on our chat. 8 people haven't played with over 10 hours left. I think we can make top 100 if the remaining 8 got 100-200 points. Thanks for the advice. Our alliance isn't as competitive as others so wish me luck.
  • Hi, I need some advice again. So I was able to complete Punisher's covers (although I need to respec to 3/5/5 once I get the green Pun from Top Gun) and get LC to 5/3/4. I was trying to stock up on Iso-8 to level LC and Frank, although I ended up giving 5k here and there to boosted characters. Most of it I gave to OBW. I find it fortuitous that I got OBW covers left and right. She really is the best utility 2* character, she saved me a couple of Health Packs during the Hunt. Anyhow, what I'd like to do is get that yellow falcon at 1100. I've never really gone past 1000 before with a 2* team. Currently, I stand at ~600 points. So, in order to get there:
    A) Should I dump my Iso-8 stock to LC/Punisher (which would bring both of them to lvl 91)?
    B) Should I keep saving Iso as I can reach 1100 w/o lvl 90 heroes?
    C) Should I direct it all to OBW bringing her to lvl 70?
    D) Should I concentrate on other characters?

I would really appreciate your help. Thanks in advance.
