Cover slots should be free.

Hello.

I just wanted to suggest that cover slots should be free. There are so many characters coming out that it gets harder and hard to get the cover or cover color you need. So when you get a character you have to decide if you want to keep it or get more slots. So get more slots in hopes you get another cover. But you dont...so you wonder if you get more slots or dump a character.

This is the problem. You would spend money to upgrade a character, but if you never get another cover why upgrade it if you may dump it. But to have to buy slots and upgrades really adds up to be expensive. I dont mind spending money on this game, but I cant afford tons and tons. Allowing us free cover slots for as many characters we want allows us to spend money on the characters themselves and enjoy leveling them up. But if I have to spend money just to keep buying slots, I wont do much upgrading.

I just believe that with free cover slots, its allows us to build up our collections and then spend money on the fun part, upgrading, instead of making room.

As an option, cover slots could be far far far cheaper. Or, free for *,**,***and cost some for 4 star covers. This allows people to build up a collection at the beginning, and then later on charge for the slots.

  • I like the idea of free storage for one-star characters.

I think charging for roster slots is reasonable, since they have to charge for something.

But, with a new character every week (which will be "Essential" next week) and roster slots costing 500 HP, it makes me question the pricing of the slots.
  • Having slots for specific character * levels is pretty cool, but I don't know how the numbers would work out. I definitely believe character slots should not be free, as I am sure that that is a huge part of income for D3, which I'm perfectly fine with because supporting the devs is what allows this game to continue getting better.
  • A compromise might be slots that "stack" for gold characters. For example, 2* and 3* Thor could take up the same slot since they're virtually the same character. This would alleviate problem with needing more slots for all the new gold characters.

Or at the very least they could increase the number of free slots offered to the player at the beginning of the game.
It would be fair: as the total number of characters has drastically increased, the probability to pull numerous different character at the beginning of the game, before gaining a lot of hp, has increased too.

I'm aware that this is this variety of cover that decide many beginners to spend some money to increase their roster at the beginning. I spent a few. Still, more available characters may deserve more free slots at the beginning?
  • I suspect the reason they're pushing all these characters out - specially the rushed, barely thought out, blatant cashgrab characters like the gold ones - is to force people to buy hp to buy cover slots. Ironically, it's one of the reasons I"m no longer willing to spend any more money on the game.

I'd like them to let new players spend their first HP on anything they want, rather than forcing them to get a Widow/Hawkeye cover - they'll find enough of those covers just by playing the prologue. I know that tips can be turned off, but new players might not.

It'd probably be more useful to give them a free hawkeye/widow, and then force them to buy a slot with HP (I forgot, are the first few slots still ISO, or did they change it to needing HP?)

I really don't even mind that they charge. The problem, in my opinion, is that they continually raise the price. In almost any industry I can think of, return customers get rewarded, or at least have the same price as anyone else. Here, it feels very exploitive. It has gotten to a point where it is too expensive for me to buy slots with hp from real cash micro transitions.

And they keep adding characters far faster than I can get the hp to keep them. It is to the point now where I'm on the border between getting an Ares or Human Torch on this event. I've stopped playing, because I can't afford the spot for the top reward. They have actually made a situation where playing the game further is not in my best interest for this event. If I'm continually in a situation where not playing it is my best option, I don't see it holding my interest for long.

You can set it to skip the tutorial and avoid that. I didn't know that so I wasted a bit of HP on abilities and a Black Widow. They should allow players to continue without having to force them to spent those HP.

    This.

Its not like allowing player to have a free slot for Yelena is going to push them over the top in terms of power level.

As has also previously been mentioned, as far as i'm aware the costs for additional slots has not changed despite a huge amount of characters being added.
Allowing 1* characters to be added to the roster without needing an additional slot will keep the newer players interested a lot more, whilst not providng any real benefit to existing players.

The way to ensure that this is not abused is to make every roster slot that already holds a 1* character the specific slot for that character, if they are already on a roster they cannot be sold off to make a slot that can be used for any other cover. E.g. I have a Yelena (not really, but hypothetically), I cannot sell this cover to make a roster slot available OR i can sell the cover for ISO, but only another Yelena can ever occupy the open slot.

The slots are the second most profitable thing for them. I doubt they are gonna mess too much with it unfortunately... icon_cry.gif

Well at least the wiki says 35th slot costs 500 HP, and I am at 35 slots, my previous and my next one still cost 450 HP, yay?
