Rune Progression Rewards in Platinum

I was just sat here looking at **** and thought to myself, is there anyone in platinum AT ALL that thinks, "excellent that's 1000 more runes in the bag" during the progression rewards.

I don't think anyone does in the game to be fair, but at lower tiers it could be argued they are lacking the cards / PWs to move up and therefore runes are useful.

Platinum do not need these as the majority are already the the top of their game.

Surely it would not only be incentive to move up, but also common sense for the rewards to just be boosters and crystals. 1 booster from each set, mixed in the crystals would be warmly welcomed.

Granted the vast majority would be dupes, but I'd rather have dupe cards with a long shot at something new, than a never ending pile of runes amassing.

I bumped up to Platinum with my Red mastery fairly recently. I enjoy the extra crystals, the rewards are better. However, I'm still in Gold for the SOI event since it has no Red, and, funny enough, I got a BFZ pack which gave me a Sphynx of the Final Word. If I were in Platinum, I would have gotten KLD cards instead.

To address the Runes rewards, what would you like instead? I mean, they give a lot of stuff away for free, which has caused mass inflation and made crystals worth a lot less. They keep charging the same USD for crystals though, which has thrown everything out of balance. I don't think giving even more valuable stuff away for free is going to help the economy at this point in time.

I don't agree with you. I'm in platinum tier as well, mostly because of mastering cards. I only have a few walkers at level 60 and need a gazillion more to level up all my remaining walkers. I don't play QB, because I don't have the time caused by the ongoing events.

In short, I warmly welcome the runes.

I just feel that the amount of runes they give is too little. Can't they increase that amount like 2 to 3 times to make it feel more worthwhile?

The aim was to see if anyone actually valued them, and it seems a few of you do! Fair enough, but there will come a time when you won't.

Actually another thought I have just had on that, rather than set boosters, why not a Booster Token that can only be redeemed for one booster of your choice.

To be honest: most of the time boosters are just good-looking runes with all that dupes.

Actually it depends on how active the player is. Each set comes with about two to three new planeswalkers. Let's take it to be 3 dual-colour and 2 mono-colour planeswalker per big+small set.
SOI+EM: Sorin, Arlinn Kord, Nahiri, Jace 2, Liliana 2
KLD+AR: Dovin Baan, Chandra 2, Nissa, 2, Saheeli, ???

That's 640k runes needed to level all of them to level 60. And you have roughly 4 months to do that considering the current pace of releases, which is approximately 35k runes a week. For players like me who don't play QB all that much, the runes are very much welcome.

I like the runes. I am still missing Saheeli and N2 and don't have quite enough to level them both up yet. I live PW to PW with runes I guess.

That being said, we used to be able to buy boosters with runes. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it was a 5
Card booster for 300 runes. It would be nice to have something like that back-- even if it was a 3 card booster for 1000 runes.

I have a feeling that if they give more booster packs out for free, they will just continue to water them down even further.

I know that getting more stuff looks good on the surface, but behind the scenes they are controlling the rate at which anything of value is distributed.

I like the idea of awarding tokens, but how about those tokens buy you entrance into exclusive events? I mean, you earn tokens from playing the F2P events, then they charge admission to special events where there are better prizes. They could even allow the option of buying into the tournament with crystals, now all of a sudden you have events with better rewards (due to crystal entrance fee) but those same events are also completely open to free players if they put in enough effort to earn the free tokens.

I'm platinum in red and am nowhere close to having all my planeswalkers leveled. And that's the just planeswalkers I have; there a quite a few that I don't have. I like getting runes as progression rewards in events.

Frankly, I don't know why OP thinks plat players are at the top of the game. It's just not that hard to hit platinum if you're dedicated even with a mediocre collection.

N2 will be available for crystals in a few weeks. Saheeli will be available for crystals (not cash) early this year, according to what one of the devs said here on the forums.
