5*.... when can they make a difference in PvP?

Hello,

I am wondering when (level wise or cover wise - any way you look at it) the 5* can make a difference in PvP?

I know that 2-2-2 OMLogan can be a superstar in the 4* MMR (or at least was couple of months ago). However my Logan is 2-1-1 - a bit lacking in this department.

What I am looking for is information what can be my benefit in leveling the 5* when I want to get to 1,2k in PvP without actual multiple shield hops (i prefer to get 900 and save the HP then waste hundreds of HP on a hop that can be unsuccessful). I know that my PvE should not be changed much even if I bring one or two 5* to say 350-360. Not sure if I would keep seeing 4* teams in PvP if I do the same and if that is enough to make a step up.

My 5*:
OML - 315 (2-1-1; maxed)
Iron Man - 300 (3-2-2; can be taken to 360)
Dr Strange - 300 (4-4-3; can be taken to 420 but I intend to park 5* under the boosted level of 4* anyway)
Phoenix - 275 (3-5-0; can be taken to 375)
Goblin - 270 (1-3-1; can be taken to 330)
Black Widow - 255 (2-2-2; can be taken to 345)

I have all the others but there are badly covered (colors missing or just 1 cover like Captain and Thanos).

In terms of my 4* I have 18 champions with all the key players (non named Peggy) championed.

My current strategy is CP/LT hoard and championing all 4* if I can (or getting it to 25-30). But if I can get something out of the 5* i have (by that I mean 10 cp extra per event) then I might reconsider.

Any thoughts?

    You're in luck, I'm just slightly ahead of your roster.

    I say this professionally and from (post-cupcake) experience;

    Leveling your 5s will NOT help in PvP. I've soft capped at 3 @ level 360 (more below), including OML, and never use them.
    You will not get to 1200 with the current state of PvP without excessive shield hopping in the 4* meta.
    Even then after leveling them and breaking out of the 4star MMR, you may get to 1200, with a couple hops, only to be met with waves of champed 5s

    However, I did level them to a point where I stay in 4star land and DO use them in;
    1. Seeds
    2. Lightning Rounds
    3. PvE

    I think your current strategy of hoarding is good unless they conceive a better way to acquire classics.

    The only thing that will give you an easy route to 1200 is a champed 5, preferably two.

    Anything else will still have you hopping. A lot.

    Thanks guys. I guess in this case I am back to the drawing board. The 5* i have are good only for Seed teams (actually OML-Thanos is amazing for LR as I have black Thanos) and a bit of the easy nodes.

    I will be hoarding CP and LT. I hope to have enough by the time Strange will be rotating out.
