Here's what I have now:

2 star:

OBW 5/4/4, 85/85

CapAM 4/5/4, 56/85
Daken 5/5, 41/69
Moonstone 2/5/4, 31/69
Hawkeye 3/4/5, 6/77
Magneto 5/2/3, 6/61

Magneto 2/2/0, 18/38
Spidey 1/0/2, 18/28
Hulk 2/0/1, 18/28
Daredevil 4/1/2, 15/66
Doom 3/1, 15/41
Patch 1/3/1, 15/43
Black Widow 0/0/1, 15/15
Psylocke 1/1/1, 15/20
Ragnarok 1/0/0, 15/15
Hood 0/0/1, 15/15
Thor 1/0/0, 15/15

1 star:

Iron Man 5/5/3, 50/50
Black Widow 5/5, 40/40
Jugg. 5/5, 40/40
Venom 5/5, 20/40
******

Have no idea how to spend now, since none of my 3 stars are near ready, so I don't know who to invest it. Do I bring up some of the other 2 stars, for the short term, or just hoard until I get more 3 star covers? And is really true that you shouldn't bother investing in a 3 star until you can get them to above level 80?

Thanks!!

Just hoard your iso: it costs 170k to max out a 3*, so 30k iso is a drop in the bucket. As for if a level 3* needs to be level 80+, they need to be level 100 just to have the same match damage as your 2*s, so theyll be significantly weaker unless theyre 80+. You can pump iso into them if theyre buffed though since the buff would push them to be powerful enough to comprte with your 2*s maybe.

Yeah, NothernPolarity is right. Don't be afraid to sit on some ISO - it isn't going anywhere. The last thing you want to do is drop a bunch of ISO into 3* characters you later realize you aren't going to want to use very often.

As your 3* characters get more covers try playing with them in some easier prologue missions to see how they fare in a (primarily) danger-free environment. Combinations and powers might not play out how you expect them to, others may surprise you. Once you're sure you have a 3* character you like, and his/her level cap is 90+, then spend the ISO. Until then, dropping ISO into a 3* isn't helping you progress because your maxed 2* characters are likely stronger.
  • Thanks so much for the advice! So, basically, don't waste any more on 2*s either, now that I have 4 maxed? I didn't know if having some more high level 2s would help me do better in the tourneys/events.

I think 3 max level 2*s were enough for me to transition into 3*s: more shouldnt be necessary.

One more question: since in the long-run, 35000 isn't much, should I just dump it into Patch right now for the tourney, since eventually I assume i will want to try to bring him up as one of my main 3 stars?

    THANKS!!!

Patch maxes out at 43 right now for you, which = level 86 buffed. Your 2* A. Wolvie is level 85 = level 160 buffed, which is a lot better, especially given how 2*s scale better with levels than 3*s. Therefore, you're definitely going to be using 2* Wolvie over Patch for this tournament, which means that theres no reason to level Patch right now.

I really appreciate it. I'm still new to understanding all the scaling things

Just as a preemptive explanation, there are actually two kinds of "scaling" -- the one NP is referring to here describes how character powers are affected when you level them, either with ISO or with buffs. The other common usage is in PVEs, where the enemies are set at a certain level based on how well you and other players fare in that event.
