I remember how impossible these matches were when they first came out! While they are a bit easier now, they still put up a good challenge, and my favorite part is getting a guaranteed kaladesh rare for clearing all the bonus objectives. I hope you guys put together more of these types of events. I like not having to worry about timers and charges and relying on an alliance to earn the top prize. Also, playing against Eldrazi reminds me how fun it was when we didn't have to wait ages for fabricate supports to be assigned!

it's a good challenge! but how the heck do i beat valakut with less than 10??
  • Try creatureless Ob or nearly creatureless with lots of removal. You can really control your life loss. Just watch out for that bird that returns on a red landfall. Every instance in the graveyard comes out at once, which can catch you on the last turn before the win.

i found panharmonicon and hixus to be pretty effective. but i'm having issues of getting damage in. i'll try ob next.

    Edit, added:

How do you control life loss? i'm scared of the constant 6 damage to me. any good lifegain for ob? Shadows of the past seems nice.

Edit 2: Abort abort! Too efficient! (you weren't kidding about the firebird. a single one got me with its haste. i even had to destroy my own ult support)

can be done with dovin and some luck. unless you have
fixed reliable healing, cascades resulting your opponent
using their ability is a real pain. I try and aim for 7-10 hp
before I remove all their creatures and cast claustrophobia
just in case. took me many tries though.

After trying for ages and barely missing it, I finally got it with Dovin and some luck. Byfar the toughest objective to hit.

These last 2 of the last 2 bosses seem almost impossible.

Where is this guaranteed kaladesh rare? And, hang on, how many people do you think will actually clear all the objectives?

I already gave up once I realized Tyrant #2 is mandatory. Can't do it without trying repeatedly and hoping to roll double-sixes on the river. Not worth it and don't learn anything in the process.

I'm guessing it's for people in Platinum? For what it's worth, I'm in gold tier for White, silver for the rest and managed to get all the way through the progression. No rare though, just a booster pack.

Took a few attempts for some objectives, especially for winning with less than 10 health.

Try Sorin life control or ob creature control. Use orb of warding if necessary.

They're both really good at meeting objectives with hp requirements because they can manipulate hp.

I did tyrant #2 in one try with ob.

There's actually much value in learning how to stall a board successfully and taking controlled damage.

I'm still to find a way to beat tyrant with more than 90 health, and for the secondaries on kozilek... Miss these three only, so need kozilek first plus one of the seconds...

Don't know what cards you have, but I did it with my L2 deck. Lots of blocking and kill cards to prevent damage (well, not so much here given how the Tyrant's deck operates), plus Grotesque Mutation will get you back a ton of health if used on a huge Diregraf Colossus or a pile of zombie tokens. Added bonus: Relentless Dead or Prized Amalagam both die quickly, which allows for very fast reinforcement of your zombie tokens if Graf Harvest and her third ability are in play.

What are some good strategies for the 2 ribbon objective of the sphrinx? I got it by stacking hixus and rushing it with nahiri, but it seems strange that you need one specific mythic for it.

I guess that tyrant's 2 ribbon objective going from nighmare to mabageable if you have orb of warding counts as a precedent however.

Ps. Does kozi have removal other than tyrant of valakut and blockers?

Got lucky that the game glitched and gave me the 1 ribbon tyrant objective while I was using nissa 1 even if I won with 89 lp remaining.

Protip for kozi's first objective: the supports that disable the first creature are your friends.

Since the objective prevents you from killing, use bounce, bounce and more bounce. Did that one with a Kiora deck, Crush of Tentacles for mass removal and Anchor to Aether otherwise for specifics. Still ended up killing two creatures though, so there was a bit of luck going on. I expect cards like Engulf the Shore would also be useful (maybe more so than Crush, since you don't get a huge creature with Reach afterwards).

Yeah the abundance of life gain options make this one easy compared to when the event first launched.

You can do this with ob too.

What about the tokens from drowner.of hope? You just disable them?

@ohboy didn't old tyrant work like avacyn, only using his ability when you had something out? Or do I remember wrongly?

I don't think so. My strategy for him used to be discard lock and waiting for him to push my hp to below 10 with skill before finishing him, so probably unlikely.

I always use gideon for high hp objectives(he's my only level 60).
it's a case of you can take any damage in hp, as long as you have
90+ hp just before you win. I used lone rider + serene steward
+ war oracle with the idea that whatever damage you can deal
me I can regain most of it. I then use champion to help clear
opponent creatures + keen eyes if they're flying. it's a bit like
quick battles where you want to save most of your hp for the next
    immediate battle.

No disables in my deck, the tokens were one of my two kills and I only ever saw the one Drowner.

I ended up tanking it with Liliana. Had to kill my own creatures a few times though but ended with 1 hp remaining.
