Soft capping champed 2*s?

I'm a daily PVE player in the 2* to 3* transition phase, and I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations for soft capping champed 2*s to keep scaling reasonable. Currently, I'm soft capping them at level 108 and leveling my decently covered 3*s to level 91. I keep getting additional covers for my 2*s, so I'm starting to wonder whether I should go ahead and increase the soft cap to get more champ rewards. But I also don't want to risk PVE becoming a lot more difficult due to scaling... I would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Scaling concerns should not be an problem for you. Having 2* champs as you head into the 3* tier means you should have no troubles. The good 2*s (OBW, Storm, Magneto, Ares) are way, way good enough to compete with characters 50 levels above them with no serious issues. Also, the actual power of a single level flattens out a lot between 100 and 200 so you can pretty much completely ignore levels as a measure of difficulty in any case.

Once you start getting characters past 200, you'll notice scaling becoming an issue again, but shouldn't be one at your stage of the game at all.
