Inventor's Fair - Matchmaking

I'm not sure what's up with this event, but I feel like my event decks are being matched up against the most super highly optimized non-event decks in existence. I simply can't keep up with those decks.

Why is it I'm also facing Koth more than 50% of the time? The AI simply abuses the lop-sided mana gains and any deck with Olivia, Bacon, Akoum, or any other OP combo will just ruin your day.

It seems like you've ramped up the matchmaking in order to make players lose. Perhaps this was in order to break ties for 1st place. Fine, I suppose, but what's happened now is that this will negatively affect casual players like myself. We don't care about the top of the leaderboard. We play the event to have fun. Building decks to immerse yourself in the event is fun. Repeatedly facing try-hard decks is not fun.

As such, I'm opting out of the rest of the tournament. I take it your developers and game designers spent a bit of time putting it together, and I'm sorry to say that this type of thing will go to waste if you turn it into a slog fest. The game needs to be enjoyable. Not everyone is super-competitive.

Please make adjustments to matchmaking so that is a ladder type progression. The only time I should be facing the top decks is if I myself are near the top of the leaderboard.

And conversely I AM trying to get the mythic card, but already know I won't due to one loss to a deck like that, added to the fact that the red node requires I take less than 15 damage, yet between Descimator of the Provinces, Olivia, and Fevered Visions, I've not gotten that ribbon on any match up.

Red doesn't excel at not taking damage. I feel like this was a goal that wasn't well thought through.

I'm using sarkhan for my red node.
turn against and then fleshbag marauder will remove
most of the attack force from opponent cascades.
it is possible with the right cards. q: do I lose one life
    to draw a card? mm...

I find some of the objectives are much more probable
if you use dual coloured decks. the objectives stupidly
cripple single coloured decks which are less likely to be
used by players in tie breakers.

chandra1 1st ability may actually be quite tough with
the take no more than 15 damage. and if she get a
planeswalker cascade then forget about getting that
    ribbon.

nahiri or ajani might also work well

i could not agree more. I seemed to have been paired with a bunch of hate decks. i have never lost so much in an event in my whole tenure playing this game.

Your suggestions are reasonable but you can't change PW's after they're locked in. I entered this event without knowing the matchmaker has been tuned to absolutely ruin my day.

Regardless of the PW, unless you are a professional, this game is supposed to be fun, not work. Challenge? Yes please. Slog fest? Nope, gonna do something else.

I am sick of this event. I have never been so mad at you D3 over a game!!!
Yes it is great the challenges for ribbons are a little tighter.....but then you make sure the matchmaking makes them impossible!!!! These challenges require slow deliberate play. Fine, no problem. But when all you do is face is Koth after Koth after Koth with these amazing AI cascades....you are guaranteed to lose over and over and over again.

Seriously....now the third time I'm ready to throw my phone across the room in frustration over the ridiculousness of play.

5 of my last 6 event matches have been against Koth.

He's easily the PW I hate going up against the most. Literally any other planeswalker I'm fine going up against, but when i see Koth, there's often a silent "Oh $@#&." He's broken IMO.
You can match red to keep him away from it for the first few turns until he gets his first ability and knocks out gems... then, more often than not, the amazing AI chains begin and your probably screwed at that point.

What I don't get is why D3 does things like nerfing Kiora's (who I paid 950 crystals for) first ability making it pretty much useless but Koth still gets 12 mana for a 3 gem match.

Koth is at best low mid tier, and Kiora is still very much top tier.

You just need to make sure you have removals.

All of my decks have removal, but when Koth gets a chain and gets out 2 huge creatures in one turn and your removal doesn't come up b/c RNG wants to screw you... not much you can do.

Actually Koth just got out 3 big guys on me a few minutes ago in 2 turns. luckily I was playing my red deck that worked the way it supposed to and had enough removal (2) to get rid of 2 of them.

Opinions will vary I guess... but Koth is definitely the PW I least look forward to being matched up against.

what I hate most about koth is the game is coded to allow
him to cheat. koth is only effective if he gets red gem
matches. instead of making it fair that the player can play
to deprive him of red gem matches. his first ability is
strengthened so that he's close to guaranteed a red gem
match and then it charges back up so that he can do the
same thing the following turn. when I lose to koth it's feels
like my opponent did not win on merit which is very different
to losing to an opponent like kiora.
