Adjustment to Inner Struggle

It's a minor thing but recently caused me to make a mistake assuming this card worked the same as in paper magic. There is says "target creature deals damage to itself equal to its power" whereas here is says "target creature takes damage equal to its power"

There's really only two instances where this matters. One which I ran into, you can't make Ayli (or any other deathtouch creature) kill themselves, and creatures with lifelink would gain their controller life when this is cast on them.

I'm curious why the difference...

Good catch but the definition of deathtouch and lifelink both specify "in combat" so the behavior is technically correct.

The spell itself also just says it takes damage equal to power so it's not dealing itself damage.

Really it's only an issue for me for creatures like Fetid Imp. It'll be a 1/8 reach deathtouch, and in paper magic Inner Struggle would kill it, but not here. Though the change to lifelinkers might make people think twice about running it against cards like Olivia.
