Sigarda's changes?

With all the unpopular changes to Hexproof, one of the things that slipped through were changes to how Sigarda's hexproof grant behaves.

Sigarda's text reads: "You and each Human you control gain Hexproof." In the past, this was a permanent buff to your Human creatures. Now, it is behaving like Sphinx of the Final Word, which says on the card: "While this creature is on the battlefield, each of your creatures on the battlefield gain Hexproof." As soon as Sigarda dies, your humans lose hexproof.

If this was intended, please change the wording on the text. If it was not intended, please make sure that the original function of the card is restored.

Side note, Sigarda's Hexproof has been a crucial part of my strategy because of the rampant cheap kill spells. I hope you restore the original intention of the card, because I feel like this was an unnecessary nerf to her.

There were always inconsistencies in the way her hexproof interacted with transformed creatures.

But if the new way the card acts is their intent, the card text should reflect it.

Sigarda very much felt bugged before. The hexproof she granted would not be affected by Disable, which can't be right, can it?

What do you mean? Disabling Sigarda made hexproof on all creatures disappear. I never had a problem with that. That would actually be consistent with how it works with Rattlechains.

Feeling like it was bugged and actually being bugged are different things. All they have to do is change the text to make it clear.

No update to her text is required if this is intended as just like in paper magic, if the card creating the effect leaves the battlefield, then the effect they created also ceases to exist.

Sigarda just says you and your humans have hexproof. Based on that verbiage, humans always should have lost hexproof when she left play.

Thanks for clarification, wereotter. If this is the case, however, either Sigarda or Sphinx/Rattlechains text needs to be changed for consistency. Seems more simple to add "While this creature is in play" to Sigarda, just to remove doubt.

While we're at it, who is You in "You and?" it's not Sigarda, since she has never given herself hexproof.

I've never played her to test this out, but "you" is supposed to refer to her controller. Have you been his by any red burn spells while she's out? Exquisite Firecraft or Avacyn's Judgment? If she works right you shouldn't be able to.

You probably shouldn't be effected by Whispers of Emrakul and the like, but since those don't target, I can see them still go through.

It's not something I've ever noticed. It would be hard to know for sure, because how would I know they have it if they don't cast it? But I will try and make note of it.

Probably easier to check if you're the one trying to cast the spell. Though I notice most the time the computer AI prioritizes the player with burn spells, ignoring creatures on the board, so if they're targeting Sigarda with burn spells, it's likely because you can't be targeted.
