Holiday showdown super choppy and freezing

Was wondering if anyone else is having issues with this event. It slows down to the point of freezing where I can't play. It also seems really really slow. Playing on a nexus 6, android

    I've been experiencing stuttering/choppy game play since the update yesterday, in all game types (QB/Story/Event). Only with certain cards though (mostly DtG). Not the casting of it, it seems to start as soon as I have the card charged up. Only on my turn too, the AI's turn seems to go by with no issues. Playing on Android.
    I chose to run Koth in the event to see if that helped and so far so good. Just my experience.

    Mine was also choppy this morning (i.e. a few hours ago in my time zone)

    Yes been choppy for me too, especially with fetch and mana converting spells.

    Only deploy the gatewatch makes it choppy for me.

    Once it's cast and out of my hand, game resumes at normal speed.

    Holiday showdown is super choppy for me too. Games in oath of gatewatch are smooth though

    For a whole year I didn't have any performance issues with this game, it was always smooth. The 1.9.1 update ruined it - the gameplay now can get really choppy, dropping framerates to like 2fps.

    This effect is happening more often and stronger in the Holiday Showdown event (could it be because of the extra snow animations?) but it's happening in the old dull backgrounds too. It seems it's connected to the exploding visuals but not always. I've for example noticed a massive framerate drop every time I'm loading the last bits of mana to cast Deploy the Gatewatch - a freeze happens a second before it's about to be cast - so the animation of the last 3 mana flowing to it from the board is extremely choppy, oddly it happens only with the last mana needed to cast it (or another big spell). This would suggest the issue is not related to visuals overload but something else.

    I experienced the same thing against World Breaker in the OGW event. Most noticeably when the AI cast Bring to Light and Nissa's Renewal. It seemed like anytime the AI had these cards in hand the game would just barely keep going until the card was cast, then the game would speed back up again. The worst was a Bring to Light into a Nissa's Renewal that charged more of the same cards.

    I've noticed that talent of the telepath is causing my game to slow down the same way that DtG is. Haven't tested it with any other fetch cards but maybe there is something going on with the fetch mechanic.

    I'm wondering if this has something to do with the change to fix Vehicular Assembly only summoning 3 creatures in certain conditions. There's clearly something going on with anything that fetches or digs through the library.

    Yes, Gather the Pack also slows things down. It must have something to do with Fetch.

    On my iPhone, I did have a lot of freezing/crashing problems, but no fetch cards were being used. It seemed related to the tremendous number of fabricate/energize gems generated by the AI.

    feels less fluid on jace heroic battles. I'm guessing it's
    something to do with the supports in play.
