Turning corner from casual player - seeking roster advice

Hi All,

I'm on day 132 - I generally only play PvE (for now) and finally want to organize my play for MPQ. I have a decent roster size (35 slots, username "Random_" in alliance "FR Heroes Corp") but due to a variety of unfortunate events - I have an unorganized bunch of characters. On top of that, I had a great streak of RNG in the space of 2 days and now don't have space for some of my lucky draws. My roster:

I feel I have way too many low 3 stars and I lost several mostly leveled 2 stars in a stupid manner - don't ask icon_e_smile.gif I have waiting in my rewards queue - a Squirrel Girl yellowflag.png (that will probably expire before I get an answer here), The Hood yellowflag.png, Daken 3star blackflag.png, Ragnarok blueflag.png, The Thing yellowflag.png, Wolverine Patch yellowflag.png, Dr. Strange yellowflag.png, and a Ghost Rider 4star greenflag.png

I have 379k iso8.png, 31 heroic tokens, and about 48 misc tokens from other events (no standard tokens) that I have not redeemed (Dr. Strange, oscorp, etc. etc).

So do I ditch some of those 2 stars? Or some bad 3 stars (Psylocke?). Ditch some 4-stars? I can probably "rebuild" a fair amount with my hoarded tokens and by playing a bit more (I think I can get to Whole Enchilada now/soon)

Any advice, theory crafting and or random tips are welcome.

Thanks!

Dr Strange yellowflag.png is liquid gold (or the MPQ equivalent), definitely make a place for this in your roster

I Think you can ditch two-star Hawkeye and Daken - neither have many covers and should be easy enough to rebuild. In the long run you probably want all two-star characters on your roster for their champion rewards, but it takes time to build up the roster like that. I suppose Moonstone can be cut on the same basis. Keep the other two-stars since you have invested ISO into them.
After that, I'd probably start looking at Three- or fourstars with just a single cover. Psylocke is definitely cuttable. Three-star Bullseye is fun, but doesn't bring much to your roster with only a green cover. Spider-Woman and Kingpin are probably cuttable on the same grounds. X-force Wolverine is not great, but I Think you are Close to the Point where you get his covers in the Daily Resupply, so I wouldn't cut him just yet.

As for the recruits you have waiting, I Think you can skip Squirrel Girl, Ragnarok, Thing and Ghost Rider (though I wouldn't sell Ghost Rider until after Galactus finishes, I Think he's an Essential character there), but you probably want to roster Hood, Daken, Wolverine and Dr Strange.

So I guess my advice right now is:
    Sell star.pngstar.pngicon_hawkeye.png, icon_daken.png, icon_moonstone.png, star.pngstar.pngstar.pngicon_psylocke.png
    Recruit star.pngstar.pngstar.pngicon_hood.png, icon_daken.png, icon_wolverine.png, drstrange_icon.png
Next one to ditch would be star.pngstar.pngstar.pngicon_bullseye.png. Decide for yourself if you need icon_ghostrider.png for Galactus or not.

Also, save your tokens until you have enough HP to pay for a new roster slot. Then start opening tokens until you get a new character. Tokens don't expire, but covers do, so it's better to keep the tokens unopened while you build your roster.

Actually, if you plan on joining the Galactus event today, you should keep 2* Hawkeye for a little while longer. That event counts as an Avengers event, with various classic members as the required characters for those minion fights. The Clint Barton version of Hawkeye (1* or 2*) will be one of those requirements.

Just an FYI if you don’t mind holding off selling him until after the weekend is over.

True dat, I hadn't looked very closely at the Essentials list. Sell Hawkeye last then. icon_e_smile.gif
  • Thanks for the feedback - I'll probably do both - drop a few of those lesser characters AND buy a slot or two icon_e_smile.gif

My main piece of advice would be to invest what may seem like a disproportionate amount in roster slots.

I'm pretty sure I fairly significantly slowed down my development by being tight on roster slots and instead wasting HP on tokens/health packs.

Rostering lots of 2* characters is now a good thing, although your main concern should be wasting as few covers as possible. When you've champed your 2*s and have really significant ISO you can start levelling your 3*s seriously, collecting more 4*s and so on...

You could live without 2 star cap and bullseye if you really needed the space for better covers. And while 2 star champ rewards are decent, 2 farming can be a drain on your island keep you from focusing on leveling your 3s.

Fact is, on day 130 something, either you're gonna have to buy HP for roster spots or sell off a character here or there.

Don't be afraid to sell one off, personally, I sold off plenty of 3 stars before finally rostering them permanently. And this is your choice, but don't hoarding out of fear from not being able to roster a character huge progress blocker.
