When will we have colorless PWalkers available to buy?
At least Ugin should have been released.

And 3+ colors PWs? Nicol Bolas, Sarkhan Unbroken, Tamiyo Field Researcher.

Dual's are already leveraging some great power. I'd say finish the dual color spectrum..then focus on the tri's. Personally i'm waiting on &

Agreed. Unless they set up Tamiyo's mana bonuses something like:

+2 +3 +2 -2 -3

And even then just the fact that she'll have access to three colors of cards still might make her incredibly broken.


As far as colorless, I think given the restrictions on cards would make it incredibly difficult to build for. Consider that you can't put any cards into a deck outside your planeswalker's color identity that for a Karn/Ugin you'd have to only have colorless cards, which would make for a challenging deck.

Colorless were good for those that have eldrazi like dop or emrakul etc.

Since the initial run of planeswalkers, they've been strictly following the paper releases.

The five original pws were from Origins. Then, they filled in some back catalog and expanded our basic roster with planeswalkers from Lorwyn (Garruk Wildspeaker), Shards of Alara (Tezzeret the Seeker and Ajani Vengant), Rise of the Eldrazi (Sarkhan the Mad), and Scars of Mirrodin (Koth of the Hammer).

However, since then it's been following the normal release schedule. For reference, here are the sets starting with Origins, with unreleased Planeswalkers italicized:

Magic Origins: Jace Telepath Unbound, Gideon Battle-Forged, Chandra Roaring Flame, Liliana Heretic Healer, Nissa Vastwood Seer
Battle for Zendikar: Gideon Ally of Zendikar, Kiora Master of the Depths, Ob Nixilis Reignited
Oath of the Gatewatch: Chandra Flamecaller, Nissa Voice of Zendikar
Shadows over Innistrad: Arlinn Kord, Jace Unraveler of Secrets, Nahiri the Harbinger, Sorin Grim Nemesis

I theorize they skipped OGW Chandra/Nissa because they knew more were coming in Kaladesh, and that Tamiyo's 3-color was a balancing nightmare. Other than that, we've gotten all of them. I suspect Nissa Vital Force be released.

Also, yes, Saheeli Rai was released months in advance as part of a special promo, but it was still from an upcoming set, not a prior one.

Karn and Ugin - +1, and empty stones +4

Nicol Bolas - -1 +1 -1 +1 +3
Sarkhan Unbroken - 0 +2 +2 +2 0

They would need to change the cards available to each colour combination to allow 3C PWs and have it be even remotely balanced:

Mono can use its colour + any multicolours with it's colour in it
Dual can only use its 2 mono colours and multicolour cards that are both colours
Tri can only use it's 3 mono colours. Either no multicolours (more balanced) or only allowing multis with a chosen pair of colours (ex Tamiyo could only use UG multis, nothing with white)

That wouldn't be balanced either. The number of viable multicolor cards is far, far lower than viable single-color cards.
