Poll: 2 types of 10-packs

I'm sure D3 has sales figures to go on, but a second data set couldn't hurt IceIX & the crew. Plus I'm a little curious to see what us forumites' viewpoint is. Also trying polling for the 1st time.

Poll is up till next Monday (7 APR).

Thanks in advance for voting!

Did not buy either 10 pack. I have a fickle relationship with RNG gods, and I'm pushing my luck enough in my weekly RPG.

I did tempt fortune by buying 3 of the single tokens; ended up with 1 Psylocke, 1 Black Panther and 1 Daredevil, so it wasn't a total wipe out.

That, my friend, was actually pretty sweet. icon_mrgreen.gificon_e_biggrin.gif
  • The odds if you buy 10 individual tokens are generally 15% of getting a 3* cover, so a ten pack should yield 1.5 of them. Paying for a guaranteed 3* is basically protecting yourself from poor draw luck, anything beyond that is good fortune.

I shy away from the 10-packs because of the sheer volume of covers. I have no need for 2* covers, and for the HP investment I would do much better to simply fork over the 1250 HP for 2 specific covers I want rather than spend it hoping the RNG delivers what I want. However, that's because I've been playing from day 1, and have a long time to collect. I refuse to purchase a 10-pack because it contains a featured hero I don't have yet for that reason, not because I have any objection to promoting the current super-buffed cover.

The 10-packs are pretty clearly aimed at new and intermediate players who also need to buff up their 2* rosters. It's a good investment if you're not going to sell the 2* covers. Otherwise, it's just inefficient.
  • I've never bought a 10-pack, I doubt I ever will, to be honest the pricing befuddles me.

For example, the "original" price to purchase a single (current) Swift Justice token is 300, while the 10x pack is 3000....so far so good, it's exactly 10x as much for 10x the tokens.

Except....the single token is always discounted for the first pull....current at 150 (50% off). This is often the case.

You would think, logically, that the 10x pack should also be 50% off, to be offered at 1500, but instead it's offered at the incredibly low price of....2750. Huh? That's like a 10% discount. I understand you are guaranteed at least one 3*...but you don't even know which one it's going to be.

If it was offered at 1500, so a 50% one-time discount just like the single token, then I would definitely consider it. As it stands, you are spending 2750 for the chance of a random 3* hero, when you could spend 2500 and get 2 specific 3* covers.

I guess it's good for newer players and compulsive gamblers, but for those who are well into their 3* rosters it's a waste of HP.

    Pretty good pull.

I admit - I know it's "not worth it" to buy the 10-packs when you could just as easily buy the cover slot you need. But i bought the Avengers 10-pack to take my chances. Turns out I got a green FaThor I wanted, a GSBW i didn't have, and an IM40 i didn't have. It worked out this time... this time. But I know that's outside the norm.

Really wanted a Hulk in that 10-pack though
  • I am cheap and have never bought a 10 pack. If anything I would spend the 1250 for a cover.

I bought a five-pack once when I missed out on a character I needed for an event. Shortly after that, they increased to ten-packs to get a guaranteed cover, which is just way too many HP to consider. Even the five-pack felt like a bad decision at the time.
  • Lowered 5 packs might be more enticing.
  • Might be a good idea to vote, now that the first TWO 10 packs for Capt. Rogers have both been 'triple odds' packs...

    Just sayin'...

Save you hp and just buy 1 or 2 of the covers you want to push to level 5 and earn the rest. That's what I did for lazy Thor. Once he was decently levelled the heroic jugg event became a cakewalk then having him maxed for his simulator round was a joy.

    o/\o (high 5)

I can't remember the last time I haven't pulled a Hawkeye, Wolverine or yellow c. storm cover from one of these "special" tokens.

I don't like that we aren't getting drop table links for the 10-packs anymore. I was hoping we'd see more of that.

Same odds as the other pack with the 2*s filling in the rest on an even distribution. Leaving out the '?' was an oops, yes. Not sure if we can retroactively add that in or not at this point. But yeah, same odds as the 10 Pack for Episode 1 on Steve Rogers in particular.

The point is that you can't 'just directly upgrade powers' If you don't have that color power in the first place. And/or you just need 1 of any color power in order to do the required character only mission nodes
  • Poll Closes Today, forumites!

Also, Plz reply here if you had a...strange situation, and the poll choices did not reflect what your 10-pack experience was.

    More data is better data!
  • Thanks to all 60 pollers for the data!

    What did we learn?

Most forumites are HP poor. Or elitists. Or HP poor elitists.

Joking aside, is seems that, from the votes and replies, the 10-pack purchase system needs more adjustments to be more appealing to more players.

i'll add anything relevant after a PM with IceIX.

    Thanks again!

You don't even need to be HP poor, 'middle class' people probably don't have the HP stockpiles to buy more than 1 10 pack, ever.
