Do I worry about scaling?

Hi all the vets out there
I am relatively new to MPQ (have played a couple years back, then lost account, now I started from scratch about 2 months ago) and I have a bit of an issue (or maybe not, hopefully not )
I've got a couple 2*'s in their early champ days (~lv100), then also a few 3*'s and 4*'s but with lower levels than the champs (not enough covers). I usually go with my champs for most situations, at least in PvE.
Now I have just pulled a 5* (Goblin) from a legendary token, but I have not recruited him yet, he is waiting in line. So my question is: if I do recruit him, do I have problems with scaling in PvE? Now that suddenly my roster has a lv270 char instead of the lv100s? Because if that is so, then it is a bit of a problem because in the 14 days I have to recruit him I will definitely not go much higher with my roster in general...

It will certainly affect you. GG isn't a good one to be your first anyway. How are the matches going for you now? If you struggle now getting to progression in PVE, then GG will screw you. If you can get there fine currently, you should try rostering him to be a tank. If you find that it makes life hard, sell him and your scaling will go back when you open the next event sub.
I pulled an OML before scaling was reduced and I was in a similar spot. Once they adjusted scaling to this current form life got good. He is a great tank and helped me to grow my roster without burning all my health packs.
If you decide to try GG and/or keep him permanently - DO NOT PUT ISO INTO HIM - leave it at 255. Raising the level will do nothing but raise scaling a tad.0 -
Right now I think I can hold my own. I'm usually ending up getting all the progression rewards except 2-3 from the top, and I usually end up near the rank 50 mark in the daily sub-events of the story mode.
Ok, so I will recruit him and see how it goes. For future reference though - it seems that the logical choice in this situation is to hoard the CPs and go shopping for legendary tokens only when my roster is way higher than it is now. Would that be a correct assumption?0 -

Yes, hoard your CP and LT's until you're at least in 3* land and champed a few of them.0 -
One 5* probably won't hurt you too bad but where you're at right now the best advice I can think to give you is hold off on the 5*s (unless it's OML yellow/black) until you got at the very least some A grade champ 3*s. Save that CP and Legend tokens until then. If you can restrain yourself lol. I couldn't and it set me back for a couple months due to rostering 5*s and blowing up my scaling.0

If it were me I would sell the GG and try to hoarde from now on. As said GG isn't that good and selling 1 5* cover isn't going to horribly stunt your growth despite what many people here may tell you. In the long run (long being 1-2 years at least) GG is worth more than 1000 ISO. However, in the short term (now - 1 year at least) the 1000 ISO if far more valuable to your growth and not affecting your scaling is worth 10x that ISO or more.0 -
Try him out, see how it affects your play. Don't put any iso into him though. I was around 2-3 months when silver surfer was first released, before championing, and I even leveled him up to 270 right away (this was before we knew they scale so badly against our raoters) and though pve got harder I was still able to manage. It was only after I rostered my second 5 star, Phoenix that my scaling went bonkers and the game was unplayable for a while.
Sold Surfer, then two OMLs, a bssm, and two goblins before I started rostering 5s again. Looking back OML (one of those a yellow) and goblin I really regret especially since I'm up to 5 goblin covers now.0 -
Keep GG, I think he's very good when you consider the damage per AP he has. Plus, he automatically fortifies your CD tiles. I know you have just 1 cover, but this is a very long game and you need to start collecting 5*s ASAP. I made the mistake of selling 2 OML covers when he first came out because I didn't have HP to roster him and I didn't want to spend the money to buy HP. Plus, I thought 5* characters were so far into the future that it didn't matter, but now I wish I had those covers.
As for LT and CP, hoard them until you want to start building 4*s. Plus, if you get a large enough stockpile, you could open a couple hundred LT tokens and get well covered 5*s.0 -
I've been playing over a year and I only have two Green Goblin covers (455 4* covers in my roster). I would not sell that cover. I also wouldn't open any more legendary tokens for a while. If I had to do it all over again I wouldn't open any legendary tokens until I had some of my 3*'s championed.0

To echo the advice of others:
1) if scaling is a concern, you probably ought to hold off opening add'l LTs until you have a handful of at least level 166 3*.
2) When you DO start opening LTs again, always assume that the next one you open is going to be a character you don't have yet, and be sure you have the resources to roster that character (or certainty of achieving those resources before the cover wilts).
Now, as far as whether Goblin is "good," I think he's one of just a couple 5* characters where one cover in the right ability can be immensely useful.
OML's yellow ability is the popular go-to for that, of course.
Actually, thinking about it, all of the ones that come to mind for me are yellow. OML's yellow for healing, GG's yellow for countdown reduction and countdown fortification (especially when paired with 3* Cap and Scarlet Witch), Black Bolt's yellow (little more situational, depends on who you're pairing him with) and Doctor Strange's yellow (AI uses ability? Flames of the Faltine!).
It's not that none of the other covers are useful, but I can see a utility for those four in particular for rosters that don't otherwise have much to speak of in the way of 5*.0 -
One Black Green Goblin cover (which is all I have) is quite useful too, doing about 3200 damage for 8AP0
