Do we really only have 2.5 days left for SOI cards? for reals?

If BFZ comes back I'll be ok with it

i guess me too. but i'd have hoped that they keep a set around for 2 releases.
  • I don't get why they keep taking cards sets away. Isn't the point to give us as much product to spend money as possible? Magic: Duels still has every set they've ever offered still sitting right there for purchase.
  • Wait a minute! Didn't they just make several cards from SOI available like 2 weeks ago? Not a very long time to try to land Thalia, Grim flayer, or Gisa and Gerald.

yeah, like i'd understand if they dropped SOI when Aether Revolt was released... but too soon man, too soon...

That's why it's a good idea to bank a bunch of the free packs until the full set is released. I got a Mirrorwing Dragon in one of those packs. If I didn't bank it I'd probably get another General Tazri.

To reduce clutter in the vault. Apparently its too confusing for new players to have too many options...

  • I can see why they need to appeal to new players because they sure as hell don't care about the old ones.

    Scarcity creates demand.

If you know you can buy BFZ forever, it's easy to procrastinate buying that next Big Box to chase Exert Influence.

If you know it's only there for two weeks and might not come back for months, you're motivated to spend.

I recall reading somewhere though now I forget where... they intend on always keeping Origins and the current block available in the store and retiring previous blocks with occasional opportunities to buy older blocks.

To the idea about bringing back Zendikar, that would certainly be nice, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.

I see that SOI has been rotated out of the vault today, and in it's place, nothing has been rotated in.

    That certainly reduces clutter.

I actually hoped to buy a few more soi in the coming weeks too, but after it left, I did notice I no longer needed to scroll down to claim free packs, so the clutter thing isn't exactly unfounded.

Probably better to just reduce the size of the logo though.

    i don't know.

i mean if i run a business, i would make sure i have as many items to sell as possible, as long as it doesn't eat into my cashflow and storage space with unwanted inventory.

Since we are talking virtual cards here, and they are all already created and stored in the system, I see no reason to remove them from general sale to the public.

I mean, it's not as if once removed from public purchase, d3 will delete the old cards to free up cheap hard disk space right?

But you then don't have the rarity factor that the devs have made... If you could buy it anytime, you would delay it. But if you know that it rotates out soon.. you are more likely to BUY IT NOW!

But it's the Holiday Season now. With people getting their year end bonuses, isn't this the best time to sell as much merchandise as possible? And it's also mtgPQ 1st Anniversary.

D3 has a really strange marketing strategy in my opinion.

I'll take a little extra more scrolling over less choices any day.

Lord knows how much I have to scroll to get from Ajani to Sorin in the selection screen.

I'm not saying I don't agree with you, just what seems to be what the devs think. I get my bonus soon and would have happily sent some of it on BFZ packs chasing drowner and from beyond.. but I guess I'll buy something for my kids or something instead.

me too. i would have happily purchased some crystals to buy some SoI or BFZ BB with a bit of holiday cash I received on Friday.

As it is, I am saving up my cash instead.
