Long time player (I think...is 1051 days considered a lot?), first time poster.
I'm a fairly casual player, used to spend a couple bucks on HP for slots or shields when I started out, but not anymore. I've made some roster mistakes along the way, such as dropping some fully-leveled-non-championed 2*'s when championing first came out in order to make room for higher starred covers, and now I'm trying to get some of them leveled back up to farm.
I have some covers in the queue that I'd like to add, I just don't know if they are worth dropping covers I already have, and if so, which ones should be dropped. And I do have enough HP to buy one more slot.
Roster: https://mpq.gamependium.com/rosters/jneidus/
Queue:
The Punisher (Max)
Peggy Carter
Moon Knight
and three 2* Bullseye covers (they came before the higher starred covers, was maybe going to try to level him, but probably just sell these now)
I also currently have 25 CP with another 25 on the way from the daily resupply. Should I be using those on Latest Legends (5trange is my only latest) or Classic? I have a hard time hoarding my points and tokens but maybe I'll start hoarding now and at least wait until 5trange moves to Classic...
Other notes that may be of use:
I have 300K+ iso that can be put to use (my 5* Phoenix and BIB can be leveled up, but I didn't know if that would affect my scaling)
I use Ares/Widow/Daken for DDQ, but might be willing to part with Ares or Daken now that I have other 2* leveled high enough to use
Thoughts? Suggestions? Let me know if there's any other info that may me useful. Thanks for the help!

First and foremost, stop leveling your 5*s, not one more drop into them. They don't kill scaling like they used to, but you shouldn't be putting ISO into these until you have a solid set of 4* champs. Hoarding is hard, but when you start getting a more steady flow of 4* covers, you will regret wasting your ISO on 6-cover 5* characters that are far outshone by a level 370 boosted 4*.
With that out of the way, if you're desperate for roster slots and only are using 2* in DDQ and essential nodes now (you should be - you have 36 3* champs), sell OBW and Daken. Ares can handle DDQ almost entirely by himself, and your Torch and Hawkeye can make up the difference. Don't sell without a backup cover just in case, but you can afford to dump them. OBW is great, but Ares will take you farther in DDQ. OBW is a bit squishy to do that alone. If you're using her in every battle still, I guess you can hang onto her? But I don't see what good she would really do for you even when she's boosted at this stage of your roster.
Are you mobile or Steam? If you're mobile, your HP flow should be significantly higher with the Intercepts now, so you don't need to sweat slots as badly. The 2* character sales will also get you some spare HP for slots.
Out of your queue, definitely add 4Pun and Peggy. Moon Knight is strong upper tier, but he's a little random to have strong control over his abilities.
Hang onto any covers until you must sell them to see if you luck into enough HP for a slot, and of course don't spend your HP on anything BUT slots with the possible exception of the daily token deals in the vaults.
I really don't think I would dump any of the characters you have with single covers at this point, either. The only character who is truly bad anymore is Mr. Fantastic, and I think even he gets more hate than he deserves.0 -
I agree with Smudge, was just writing up the same thoughts, especially on those 5*’s, that jumped right out at me when I looked at your roster.
My only addition would be use that 300K ISO to keep working on finishing those 3* champs. That’s a good foundation, like the 2* farm you mentioned, to build 4*’s on. Champing a 4* takes long while, but getting constant rewards from 3* and 2*’s can fight off the burnout from the grind by making you feel like you’re still making progress, while feeding into 4* cover rewards. It will also help with HP, especially if you’re in an active alliance, and you’ll find roster spots easier to buy as long as you don’t spurge everyday on daily deal tokens.0 -

No more iso into 5*s. Got it.Smudge wrote:With that out of the way, if you're desperate for roster slots and only are using 2* in DDQ and essential nodes now (you should be - you have 36 3* champs), sell OBW and Daken. I do love my OBW, but I'm willing to make a sacrifice. I have been using her for the Big Enchilada with Patch and Loki for the last week or so, but I just started playing around with teams to see what's fun. (Is there a consensus "best team" for the Big Enchilada?) I'll call OBW an Uber and send Daken packin', but why do I need backup covers? If I'm not selling them just to restart them, do I still need a backup cover in my queue before I sell?Smudge wrote:Are you mobile or Steam? I am mobile (don't even know what Steam is )
I'll add 4Pun and Peggy and hang on to MK for now. And while spending HP on other stuff was a mistake I made way back when, I rarely even spend them on shields anymore, usually just slots.
As for Alliances, I never joined one because I didn't know if I played enough to contribute. Are there Alliances for casual players?
Thanks for the help. You too Tatercat.0 -
The only reason I mentioned selling after you have the backup covers is that you might run into a Story event where you are missing the required 2* character if you just sell them outright without a backup. If that doesn't concern you, no harm done!
Being mobile is a good thing with them adding the SHIELD Intercepts (Steam is a PC-based application that hosts most new games just to let you know - MPQ also can be downloaded for free there). Your Hero Point flow should be better now as long as you don't skip the ads. I'm not VIP, don't skip ads, and wow, they do wonders for the resources.
As far as alliances, definitely join one! There are tons of casual alliances out there, and it sounds like you at least play daily even if you don't play hard. My alliance is like that, but I think we're full. I'm not a commander or recruiter anyway. Head over to the Alliance sub-forum and post in the Single Player Looking for an Alliance thread (read the rules first!). Tell them a bit about who you are, what you're looking for, and what you bring to the table along with your roster, and you'll probably get a PM or two within a day.
Otherwise, at minimum just join a public alliance. The alliance rewards for sub-event and event finishes aren't game-breaking, but every little bit helps. My semi-casual alliance gets 3 elite tokens and some ISO for every sub-event, and I always get a nice chunk of HP and tokens at the end of every Story event. Sometimes a nice little boost from PvP too.0 -
FYI, OBW is essential for the Hulk PvE starting tomorrow. I'd wait on selling her.0

Update: Joined an alliance, and got well rewarded in the Galactus event...too well. I now have some good covers in my queue and not enough slots for all. I don't know if I should dump a couple 2* players until I can build up enough HP for more slots to grow the farm, or which covers should get priority. While I'd maybe be willing to spend a few bucks, the amount of HP needed at this point is more than I'd like to spend.
Updates to roster:
1 1 Black Bolt
1 Thano5
added the 1 Moon Knight
1 Peggy
1 TAHulk
2 2 1 MaxPun
1 2 2 IM40
Roster in sig should be updated.
I have enough HP for one slot now, and only need 300 more for the next slot (assuming the cost doesn't go up) which I should be able to accumulate fairly quickly via intercepts.
Covers in queue:
2 1 Winter Soldier (2nd purple actually coming Friday from daily resupply)
Spider-Woman
Gwenpool
Power Man
Mr. F
4* Venom (Eddie)
1 3 1 3* Thanos
I'm thinking the Winter Soldier gets the first slot. After that? 5 covers of Thano3 is tempting, but from what I've been reading, he might not be worth it. SW and GP seem to be ranked higher than PM, and it sounds like I could trash Mr. F and Venom without losing much sleep.
Thoughts? How would you rank them? Obviously I won't trash any covers until their time comes due, but who do I leave waiting, hoping to join my team?
Thanks, and happy new year!0 -
Out of those, Bucky is great. I used him to great effect in his boosted week. He's slow but solid, and 3 covers is a good start.
I'm not sure how well Spider-Woman plays, but I think she's upper middle tier, same with Gwenpool and Luke. It really just boils down to which you think you will like best at that point or who gets a second cover.
Eddie and Reed are due for a re-work a year ago, but at this point, they should be the first to go.
I'm devastated by how terrible 3* Thanos is. His rewards are good, but he's overall a bad character. Another one that's up to you. Your progress looks good, so he's not going to make any appreciable impact for you unless he's a required character in PvE, certainly not as much as building a middle tier 4* character will.0 -

Thanks Smudge. I added Bucky, should have enough HP for another slot in a day or so, and will keep my fingers crossed that I can add at least one more before the covers expire.0
