1.8.1 Hotfix (12/1/16)

  • Are there any plans to make the app usable again? Because ATM it's completely f'ed. Issues encountered this AM:
    - Several tries to login, finally succeeded after ~ 15 min.
    - Cannot claim free booster, tried several times.
    - Error: Something went wrong 9x out of 10 trying to "claim match" on the NoP event screen
    - Finally got one match to work, error: something went wrong on completion.

BEFORE the updated I had a total of 5 crashes cost me winning matches, but now it's pointless to even try, more waiting and errors than playing by far.

Please do post an update when something has been done, I can't take the frustration of trying again.

Most egregious outage yet in terms of timing, outage impact, and impact to the active Event. Made even worse by a total lack of status communication to the community during the outage window.

The only acceptable compensation IMO is awarding the highest prize tier awards per Mastery Tier to EVERY player.

    Make it happen Team.

I'm simply blown away the team working on this game applies game altering patches to a game during an ongoing event. If that had waited until the event was over plus one hour this entire issue would have been removed. The issues you are seeing posted here are but a small percentage of the entire population that's currently stuck in an endless retry cycle trying to complete there matches. Could someone please apply simple logic to future decisions involving the development of this game. I assume everyone has a college degree that works at this company. If that is true than all of you have had basic decision making and critical thinking classes. Please apply your college degree along with common since to future planning with the development of this game.

You don't understand...this was a hotfix to repair a critical issue! Quick Battle messaging is much more important than events.

    D3 today, probably:
    cMWalaa.gif

Everyone here is complaining about a mid-event update, yet there is literally zero evidence that the update was rolled out. In fact, Brigby even states in the OP that the update will happen Friday (today) or Monday (three days from now).

I get that we're upset, but let's hold off on the crucifixion until they actually confirm the update went out? Because as near as you or I can tell, this is just (really bad) server instability.

Sigh...it wasn't an update, it was a hotfix that was totally unnecessary and shouldn't have happened. And the silence is also typical. It affected the majority but not all of the player base, therefore compensation, significant compensation, is absolutely appropriate.
For a lot of people, the game is literally unplayable atm. I personally retried a dozen times to log in, then couldn't even collect my not-top-ten rewards. Anger is justified.

    Okay sure.

please tell me more about the unnecessary 1.8.1 hotfix that was rolled out and made the game unplayable

edit: Again, I'm going to point to the OP here. Brigby explicitly stated "tomorrow" (i.e., today) or Monday. Both of those are days where there's no active event. Not only that, but they're actually communicating the fact that it's going out before it goes out.

Everyone's railing on them for being irresponsible with their hotfix/update/whatever the tinykitty you want to call it, but they actually were trying to do the right thing here. And every one of the tinykittys in this thread is giving them grief for it.

There's plenty to be mad about - the server performance yesterday was unacceptable. But the 1.8.1 patch is not the reason. Go get mad over something else.

After more information has been presented it appears the patch didn't happen. Regardless of this fact there should have been more communication from the developers. A lot of my previous post still applies as their have been several scheduling issues over the past few months with little to no communication until after the fact. Playing catchup is not a healthy way to build trust in your product. Being honest with us upfront ensures us that the money we want to spend supporting this game isn't wasted when the game remains bugged and unstable way past launch.

I work a full time job and would be more than happy to do updates if you PM me a number to call every day. I'd take time out of my schedule every day at lunch to update this community daily on status free of charge.

Misinformation or lack of information is one of the biggest problems in today's corporate world. Transparency and distribution of information is key to building a faithful client base. One post daily explaining current issues and upcoming updates in game and on the message board would go along way towards building that trust in the community. The systems already in place just up the frequency and reap the rewards.

Everyone does realize that you can check to see if your game was updated, correct? Mine was not. This is a freak thing -- it should be addressed though.

It has nothing to do with the update. It has to do with the server instability that appeared to be the result of a hotfix. Are update and hotfix the same thing? Not in this context.
They were trying to do the right thing, eh. Despite my general irritation, I still tend to believe that. The reality is that the event was compromised. We all have every right to be upset.
Snip? Again...sigh. And here I was going to compliment you on your gif.

That's my point though - it wasn't. And this entire thread is full of very angry people that completely miss that.

I agree 100%! I just believe the anger should be directed properly. We absolutely should be mad about the server instability - like I said, it is absolutely unnacceptable. If a hotfix had occurred & caused the latency during the event, we should be mad about that, but all appearance point toward it not going to live servers just yet. (caveat: it is entirely possible they started the deployment process, but we don't have visibility into that.)

    Snip? Again...sigh. [snip]
I'm sorry; I honestly wasn't trying to trivialize your frustration, and I see now how it can easily come across like that. I just don't like long quotes.

Hey everyone. Apologies for the issues you all are encountering. We got in touch with Hibernum this morning, and they're already looking into the server instability. Thanks for being patient.

I worked all day, during my break I played, while waiting for my girlfriend to get out of work; I played. I've been playing all day, 40 minutes ago I finally received notice that an update was available and I had to download. I can no longer play. If I can log in it freezes every step of the way; as I said "if" I can log in, 9 out of 10 times, not even this is possible. ****, this was the first time in weeks I was having somewhat stable gameplay and now because of a messaging hot fix I cannot? I have spent very little money on this game, but the little I have spent I want back. If we all wrote Google play asking for refunds with an explanation and references to the forums the developers would actually try and make the game useable and take a break from putting together (the outrageously priced 29.99) card packs? I don't post often, I do however, read the forums regularly, I see admits respond very quickly to pointless things (sometimes), but during a time when needed they just sit on their hands until they give us a shred of information. It's just disappointing to be an avid fan and player who likes and believes in the game(or rather what it could be) but only seen as a wallet that may or may not contain their $29.99 price point. But I'm sure after another two months of this we can look forward to another compensation package of 1000exp(of which I have several hundred thousand already and need none of), or a free booster pack of cards I already own? I just needed to whine and this looked to be the place to do it.

I think "seamless" is being misinterpreted a bit here. It is "seamless" on the server side. In previous updates, they would need to take down the server while the new patch was being rolled out to the App and Play stores.

We will still have to install client updates, but the server side will now be "seamless".
